Parallel R-RL Circuit

Title

I. Objectives

I.1 To determine the current through each branch and the voltage
absorbed by each load.
I.2 To determine the power absorbed by the RL branch.

II. Circuit Diagram

III. Theory

In a Parallel R-RL circuit two resistors are used and connected in a way that
one resistor is in series with an inductor and parallel with the other resistor. In a
parallel circuit the input voltage should be equal with the output voltage. The
current entering the circuit should be equal to the sum of the current in the two
branches.

IV. Procedure
1. Assemble a theoretical circuit with parameters as shown in section 2.
2. Assign values for Vs as 220V, 60Hz and set R1 and R2 to a constant
value while vary the value of L from 0.1H, 0.2H and 0.3H through the
three trials.
3. For each trial, compute the value of:
a. the voltage across R-branch.
b. the voltage across RL-branch.
c. the voltage across the resistive loads.
d. the voltage across the inductive load.
e. the current on each branch.
