Conclusion:

If one would think of it, Igorots as part of the IPs are just like any other citizen in the country
distributed in a certain area in the country. Basically, it means that their geographical location itself
dictates that they are part of the country as a whole. National government being biased to the
mainstream community is where a problem to these ethnic people arises. It is easy to say that the
preservation of cultures possessed by these IPs is a must but, in this case, that is not what is happening.
It seemed that the leaders of the nation itself is the greater opponent of the ethnic community
especially the Igorots as discussed in this paper. To quote a great psychologist, Alfred Alder, “Our
modern states are preparing for war without knowing the future enemy.” At the brink of attaining
higher education and through the introduction of the western style of living to the ethnic tribes, it is
somehow a way of erasing their identity. Their culture and standard way of living provides their safest
haven in which it benefits also to the community in terms of ecological diversity in a sense of saving
natural world. In order to bridge the gap between the major and minor communities’ problems and
solutions were provided previously. For the Igorots in our community to feel sense of belongingness and
to cease further discrimination to their tribes, appropriate education, law amendment and compliance,
respect to their culture must be exhibited. In the end, we are one nation separated by identity but if
respect and rights must be served by one another a common change or goal should be attained easily.
