Performing mark scheme

(a) The range of technical and musical skills demonstrated


The difficulty of the piece is taken into account. A piece of Grade 4 standard could achieve the highest
marks. However, it is important to choose a piece of music at the correct stage for your learning so you
can play as accurately and expressively as possible.
(b) Accuracy of notes and rhythm OR Quality of improvisation
(c) Choice and control of tempo OR ensemble coordination
(d) Sensitivity to phrasing and expression
(e) Technical control
