Other than the steel casting sorts mentioned in the material sheet , other steel casting sorts also come into use at low temperatures for ¢.g, austeniti¢ steel secording to DIN 17445 is suitable. For its application or adaptability in case of emergency , arrangements arc. to be met. 1.3 Inaddition to the information in the material sheet, other general technical conditions [or supply of cast steel (see DIN 1690 part & II) are valid, 9s long as other stipulations are not met with in this materia] sheet 1.4 For the cusing of uhe fittings DIN 1690 Part 10 is to be followed 2, Conception As per this material sheet , steel thal is tough- at- subzera literally means a cast steel, that can show sufficient toughness at temperatures below -10° C ‘The toughness the cast stec! is evaluated (as per this material sheet) , and the notch impact ascertained at ISO-Y-Tests does not fall below a value of a7) 31 a2 42 Specification ‘The short names (abbreviutions) for the cast steel types correspond te the exemplifieations as in DIN standard book 3 , and the material number as in DIN 17007 Part 2, In addition to short names or material number (as an-ordering specification), the term ‘Cast Steel’and the SEW number of this page is to be indicated, (Example given below) For cast steel type GS-21 Man 5 the desired heat - treatment condition should be marked with the alphabet N for (normalized) or V for tempered. For exainple : The specification of cast steel types wilh the sheriname GS-21 Mn 5 {material number 1.1138) in normalized condition : Cast steel SEW 685 GS-21 Mn SN or Cast steel SEW 685 - 1.1138N Classification uf sorts In Table 3 the cast steel sorts are fundamentally grouped according to its lowest temperature, by which it shows in relation to the wall thickness a notch unpact value (ISO-¥) of at feast 27 J. The choiee of the east steel sort is as per the order made Note ; The AD instruction sheet W £0 - material for lower temperatures, iron material is to be followed if necessary. 5.1 52 33 53. 53, 33. 54 54. & Requirement, Manufacturing process, (As per material sheet) Ferritic cast steel serts are ta be melted inan clestric furnace or by oxygen blowing process. The austenitic steel sorts to be melted in an electric furnace or according to any other equivalent meking process , Conditions for supply (.) The ferritic cast steel are to be supplied in tempered state, the cast stecl type GS-21 Mn5 (as per agreement with the order) also in a normalized condition), the austenitic cast steel sort in solution beat - treated and chilied state. Further information on the heat-treatment is to be found in ‘Table 7. Chemical composition Afier a meliing atalysis the chemical composition of east steel types must correspond to the information in ‘Table 1, While verifying the chemical composition of the sprue ‘specimen tests, deviation of results of piece analysis (as per Table 1) is permissible. While verifying of chemical composition not of the sprue/specimen but of (he cast piece, deviations of values can as mentioned in Table 2 be over valug limits gs iti Table 1 , as long as the values do not damage the properties for using and including welding additives. If ordered , these with their deviations are to be met aceording to the agreement. Mechanical properties For cast steel types of this material sheet the characteristic values of mechanical properties ( as per Table 3 }is valid for specimen , which are taken from cast on or separately cast specimen ready for supply. fa 54, 34 5.6 5.6.2 5.6. 5.7. Ss 3.7.2. 5.7. 3. re The value of 6,2% yield strength of the tenacity and impact work holds good for the decisive wall thickness( as mentioned in Table 3) , ad for she pieee as well (..} should for the verification of failure strain test the specimen get tesied , then che required value of the failure strain is tu be met. As notch impact work the average value obtained out of the 3 notcheed-bar impact tests is valid. Only one individual value may fall below a maximum average value of 31% Additional information on noteh impact of cast steel sorts in relation to the temperature can be {ound in Table 4. Physical properties ‘Table S contains additiowal information on the physical properties of cast steel types, which are tough-at -subzero . The given values of thickness are ta be taken on the basis of weight calculation. Goneval Casting condition and grade of quality. ‘The general agreements as in DIN 1690 part 2 are valid (..) in ease when ordering no arrangements on the casting conditions have been met, than ihe stipulations for quality grade 4 is valid as per DIN 1690 Part 2. The application of quality / grade 5 for this casting is not taken into account as per this stecl-iron material sheet Inadmissible errors are to be eliminated according to section 5.7 Welding and cond ns after welding Genesal stipulations in DUN 1690 Part 1 are valid Suitable alloys for welding us well as instructions for heat treatment after welding is all iisted in Table 6. All welded products need to undergo a polishing 5.74 6.1 6.1. ol b 62 62.1 622 6.2.3. (,) all larger welded joints are to be documented/ proved as per agreement, as long as the cast pieces after welding have mot been put under a complete heat-treatment Cof normalizing, ‘tempering, or solution heat-treatment and of chilling) as per Table 7 Examination Cettification As per this material sheet, the cast pieces are supplied only along with an inspection certificate or inspection record as per DIN 50049. The required type of certification is to be indicated along with the order. ©) When ordering the certification DIN 50049 - 3,1A, 3.1C, 3.2A or 3.20, the address of the authorizing personal or the inspections office are to be indicated. : The following is to be stated in the certificate : a) The results (by the manufacturer) of the analysis after smelting of all the relevant cast steel type elements listed in Table 1. 5} The results of the mechanical-technical tests as proof that specifications are carried out according to Table 3 *} For cast pieces of grade DIN 1690 - $ 01 to s3 and V1 to V3 the results of the non-destructive tests as proof. that all specifications regarding conditions and grade have been fulfilled, d) — nadition) the results of the agreed tests done, ©) The complete identification of the cast pieces 4} Identification of the authorized personal. ‘Check on supply conditions General Testing/checking of supply (conditions) is to be cartied as per instructions in DIN 1690 part 1 & 2 and additional information as in section 6.2.2 to 6.26. Tests that are to be implemented Implementation of tests as mentioned in sections 6.1.2 a) to d). ‘Test range 623.1 62,32 6233, 624 "628 6.2.6. 6.2.6.1 6.2.6.2 In case when verifying. whether the requirements as per Table 3 are being fullilled , anda test has been arranged as per lots / portions, then the maximum weight of the lots is taken into account, a) Jor testing of (raw) material or smelted material lots/ portions, 2500 kg b) when testing beat Lreated lots/portion 1500 kg Surplus quantities,( whose weight does not exceed half of the maxinnun weight given), may be added onto the preceding porliowlot for supply or distributed equally onto portions/lats of the supply. 5 ‘the test on supply lois are not taken itito account. For testing of portions/lots for smelting , at least 4 portions per smelting 1s tested. Prepsration of the cast pieces for non-destructive tests When preparing cast pieves for verification as to whether the cequircsnents regarding inmer and outer conditions have been met, then the stipulations relevant for test norm 1D IN 5411 part 2, SEP 1922, SEP 1935 and SEP 1936 are taken into account, Trail tests ‘The stipulations in DIN 1690 part | hold good. ‘The thickness of the cast-on and separately cast on should have a maximuin 150 mun. ‘Test procedure and conditions. ‘The stipulations in DIN 1690 part t and part 2 are yaliel. The notched-bar impact bending test is to be implemented according to temperatures listed in Table 3, () For cast steel types G-X 3 CrNi 13 4 and G-X 3 CrNiMo 16 5 the temperatures for test are fisted in Table 3 and is to be indicate in the order. 7.
