Test 2

Consider a rectangular waveguide (a = 2b), filled with a dielectric having ε r=4, µr=1,
working at the frequency f = 10 GHz. Knowing that the wave impedance for mode
H3,2 in this waveguide is equal to the wave impedance in free-space, Z 0, determine:
a) the dimensions of the transversal section, a and b, and then,
b) determine if modes E11 and H33 propagate or not and compute for the ones
which propagate:
-the group and phase velocities,
-the phase constants,
-the wavelength in the guide and
-the wave impedances, respectively
-the attenuation constant for those which doesn’t propagate.
