new-skin-thanks-gene-corrected-stem-cells

According to the magazine Science, a boy with a rare skin disease got ‘new skin’ thanks
to a stem cell operation. Before, he didn’t have skin; he would get blisters with even a slight
touch. After the injection of stem cells that corrected his genes, he made a fast recovery, literally
growing new skin. This is not some miracle cure, however. The article explains that the scientists
had to fix a genome for every major patch of skin on the body. While there is a future for fixing
diseases with stem cell injection, more complex diseases can be harder to fix. I do believe,
however, that this is revolutionary and will open a gate to a whole host of stem cell treatments.
