a. The importance of the prenatal check-up?

- According to the video, it has 4 importance in prenatal check-up. Frist is to confirm the pregnancy,
second is to check the risk factor, third is to determine the due date and the last is the goal of the nurses
which is to educate the patient by the following;( avoiding teratogenic substances, diet nutrition and
exercise, infection prevention, medication use, and when to call) to have a healthy pregnancy, healthy
delivery, and a healthy baby.

b. The different laboratory and diagnostic test done and its importance.

 CBC- because there are some hematological changes occur during pregnancy

 Blood type & antibody- If you're Rh-negative and your baby is Rh-positive, your blood might have Rh
antibodies that could spread to your baby's blood, where they'd attack and destroy the baby's red blood
cells. This can cause a type of anemia that's very serious and could be fatal.

 Pap Smear- usually done early in the pregnancy so that if any abnormality is found, the best treatment
can be determined. Hormonal changes associated with pregnancy may affect the test and cause
abnormal results.

 Test for Infection- to prevent complication and harm the baby.

c. The things to consider or to be collected from the patient.

- The following are to be collected from the patient;

 Longest visit

 Obtain baseline data

 Age of menarche

 Obstetric history (GTPAL)

 Medical & surgical history

 Family and social history

 Head to toe assessment

 Height, weight and vital sign

 Vaginal speculum examination

 Ultrasound

d. List down the different assessment risk factors mentioned in the video?
 Negative attitude about pregnancy

 Late prenatal care ( risk for mortality and morbidity)

 Abuse either substance or physical

 Age

 Poverty (in relation to late prenatal care)
