B.2.3. Gender Structures and the Political Economy of War and

Peace: Inequality between Nations and People

If we won’t stop the mentality that militarization is the solution to security, then
we’re going to have an exponential growth in weapons and as a Filipino citizen, I can
say that, we do. This year is full of catastrophic events and lot of violence have
witnessed by many people. Therefore, many innocent people were involved and got
hurt because of militarization and police. Covid-19 is a very serious matter but they
wanted the militar and police to be incharge. You have to know where and when they
should be incharge. Most of them are using their powers to abuse many people and
because of that violence are too much emphasized. Just like those protesters whose
fighting for their rights and justice, but they ended up in jail or got beaten up.
Protesters don’t have any but those police have their weapons, and they will have the
audacity to say that the protesters are being violent that’s why they hurt them. Isn’t it
ironic? What’s wrong for fighting for their right? What’s wrong for wanting to have
justice? As a government officials, you all should have known how to listen to your
surroundings, to your people. But most of them are thinking that those people who has
arguments are enemy. You don’t even know how to listen and then they have the guts
to put the protesters in jail. For what? For them to be silenced. The problem between
government and its people is they don’t know how to listen. Therefore, there is no
proper communication. We are all standing for humanity because they’re all being
inhumane. If only they know how to respect everyone’s opinion then maybe we will
understand each other and will figure everything out without hurting innocent people
and no one will embrace violence the way they do.
