• It provides first market of fresh fruit production of apple, apricot, pear and dry fruit like almond,
pistachio, ground nut, etc of the merged districts and dates on a larger scale from DIKhan, Lakki
Marwat, Bannu Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
• It also links Punjab province southern districts like Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali which are cotton,
citrus, water melon producers.

SEZ FRAMEWORK IN PAKISTAN

• The Sez Act Was Promulgated On September 13, 2012 And Later This Year The Sez Rules Were
Notified. The Law Provides SEZS To Be Set Up By The Federal Or Provincial Governments
themselves Or In Collaboration With The Private Sector Under Different Modes Of Public-private
Partnership Or Exclusively Through The Private Sector.
• The Fiscal Benefits Under The Sez Law Include A One-time Exemption From Custom Duties And
Taxes For All Capital Goods Imported Into Pakistan For The Development, Operations And
Maintenance Of A SEZ (Both For The Developer As Well As For The Zone Enterprise) And
Exemption From All Taxes On Income For A Period Of Ten Years.

ideal for setting up date processing and packaging plant for exporting different varieties of date to get
high price for this value added product in the international markets.
• The DSEZ may provide central place of marketing of the fresh fruit, its processing, value addition and
marketing to the local market as well as to international market.
• This special zone will have state-of-the-art infrastructure, efficient design, easy access to labor and
training facilities and quality logistic services.
• The ZONE will provide inherent benefits of essential supporting amenities to small, medium, and
large enterprises to grow and flourish in a global market place.
PROPOSED IDENTITY NEEDS TO BE INSURED
• 20 MW Power Plant to be constructed on Site for uninterrupted supply of
electricity to industries.
• Advanced fiber optic telecommunication facility for telephone and internet use
• Reliable water, power and gas connection to each plot
• Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) for the treatment of discharge from industries
• Availability of skilled, unskilled and professional workforce from adjoining
areas.
• Cold Storage and warehousing facility will be established within the Zone on
rental basis to facilitate the industries/ businesses
• A modern state-of-the-art Agricultural Produce Market is proposed to be built
on area of about 200 acres in adjacent to the Zone. (in may be on cost sharing
basis as per prevailing rules of Agricultural Market Produce Rules)
MODE OF FINANCING
• THE GOVERNMENT (FEDERAL/PROVINCIAL) MAY IDENTIFY; MUTATE THE REQUIRED LAND

FOR WHICH ROUGH ESTIMATE ARE RS. 1077.00 MILLION.
• THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MAY ENSURE PROVISION OF 20 MGW ELECTRIC SUPPLY, GAS
AND INTERNET FACILITIES.
• THE ALLOTEES MAY HAVE TO BUILT THE UNITS WITH IN 2 YEARS OF THE ALLOTMENT OF
PLOT AND MAY START THEIR BUSINESS.
• THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT MAY FACILITATE THE INVESTORS AND MAY LAUNCH AN
ADVERTISEMENT CAMPAIGN FOR PROJECT MARKETING TO ATTRACT THE LOCAL AS WELL
AS FOREIGN INVESTORS.
