disorder that took place on the boat after it hit the iceberg.

Read through the information on these people who were all on the Titanic when she hit the
iceberg then answer the questions.

1. Who was a millionairess and how did she get her fortune?
2. What was the name of the person who designed and built Titanic?
3. How many children did the Goodwin family have?
4. Which of these people had opened a big department store in New York?
5. Which two of these people would not normally have had to row boats in their lives, but
found themselves doing so?
6. Which person took charge of a lifeboat?
7. Which three people have been remembered for the fact that they tried to help other
people?
8. Which person, from the people here, would possibly be blamed for what happened?
Give reasons for the answer you give.

10. How many survived?
11. Why did Mrs Straus refuse to go into a lifeboat?
12. Which person was possibly quite scary when she got angry?
13. Why didn’t the Goodwin family stand any chance of surviving? Do you think this was
fair?
14. What did Bruce Ismay do that caused people to hate him after the event?
15. Why do you think Thomas Andrews chose to stay on the ship and die with everyone
else? What does this suggest about him as a person?
16. Which of these people do you admire the most and why?
17. Which of these people do you admire the least and why?

Imagine that you could contact these people and speak to them about what happened and
the part they had in the Titanic events.

Choose two of these people and write a short letter to them, saying what you think of what
happened and what they did.
