PREFACE

My Respects to My GURU.
IU\"fi been able to record in the pages of this book the
results of my research in Astrology. Tt is ~~'"Y earnest desire
that the reader should understand what T have stated
and pal the method to practical test. I shall rest content
when I find that my hook ts well merited. shall also
feel glad to accept and adopt further re<onrche• along
the lines indicated in this book.

The Science of Astrology forms a Section of the

S:~.cred Vedns. The importance of this science is there-
fore all the "'"re IC real. And qre:u as it is. there have
sprung up several Comrnenlnrie'l. but not one of them
explains the secrets in plain lan~n~.:c~ Hence there is
r:>lenty of conflict nf opinion amon~ the followers and
professional astrologers.

It's application to various Hindu functions and

ceremonials is umqlle in the ilnnals of the Indian PurRnn~
and History. The Ancient Hindu Rulers had pundits and
Astrologers in their Courts, and often, consulted thc.~m. at
times of need. These intelligent nstrolo~ers were able
to predict important events inhnatters of State. by the
position of the Heavenly planets. This formed a very
vital guide to the Rulers, to Rovern the Slate. In South

a clever astrologer who is in possession of the lVa.t,
should choose the proper chart, he can read accurate
predictions.

The method that I have pur~utd, and which [ have

presented in the pages of this hook is :m ancient
one. It has hitherto been leapt confidential without
bein~t brought to light. The authors of this method have
recorded Nrrdi• on palm leaves. What was possible to
Sages is equally possible to those who take pains to
investigate and understand the science correctly by the
method herein revealed.

The science 1s much criticised by the moderns as

predictions given by Astrlogers do not come out to be
accurate. Here again I I have to point out that the
astrologer is to he blamed, for he litis not analysed and
studied the chart as given in the ancient works, and hence
the failure. further, he would not have understood the
real secrets of the ancient ~u,rhttiJ,"i, as they are not
in clear language.

Due to various causes, our ancient and valuable

books on this precious subject have been lost, and oaal)·

fragments scoLttcrcd here and there are now available

but yet. they do not form a continuous link to understand
the science properly and correctly. The present book is.
an attempt to supply the missing link. The reader can
appreciate the value of the science by applying the·
principles enunciated in this book.

do nut propose to deal elaborately with all the

aspects concerning the various angles of the birth-chart,
in the present book, for want of space. I have appended a
short note on L.'lgnn. Sputa from Nnkshatra, Vara, and
Lagna. The birth time should be rectified on ltho basis of
the above, and chart erected lur predictions. If the birth
time is correct, the above three must tally.

The reader should bear in mind that only Nir<IJ,'Wtll

sputa of the planets should be taken ant! recorded on the
birth-chart, and N,r.ryasur sputa alone stands good for
predictions.

Though llorscupc!! look similar tn their outward

appearance, the condition, status, and positiOn of the
natives differ, widely. What is the reason ? Is it not duo
to the inner Stellar effect ? It is this Sldl<treffect that '"
clearly defined and expressed in the present volume.

It is not only the cun':ilellatiuns which are to be studied

but, also, the characters l GruJas) of the planets are to be
reekoned for predicting results ; for, they play a great
part m moulding result;. The usual G1wa(Character) of

appearence, but, internally (Soook.'ihcliiJCri) may not be so.

have explained these variations ur <iuna:Jof the planets
in this hooka

My object in bringing out this publication is tu help

those laymen that grope m the dark. Astrologers and
amateurs following other methods, have admiration tu
this system. Followers of this method can be counted only
on finger-tips. Actuated by the desire that they should
be held m hi11h esteem, or that they should be in exclusive
possession of such knowledge to enrich themselves, they
have kept this ntcthod in secrecy, For a wide diffusion
of knowledge, I have fixed a nominal price for this book.

I would particularly invite the attention of the Reader

to my treatise on the Panchama and ~apthamn. l:ihavas
wherein he calJ find interesting materials, useful to modern
Society.

So the chart stands thus:-

The constellation Bevathr commences at 2.Z-5 gh. un
the previous day of birth and ends at 18-23 gh. on the day
of birth and hence the total dur:1tiou of l{evaLhi is 5b-l8
gh. and one-fourth or oue pndit of this is H·f i gh. Adding
the duration of each quarter of Bevathi to 22-5 gh .. , ( the
commencement ) we find that the 3rd quarter of Bevathi
ends at f-18 J gh. on the day of birth and the +lh
quarter lasts till 18-23 gh. and as the birth is at 15-5. gh.
Chandra, is in Bevathi +th pacta or quarter.

For Rcvathi, the Lord of the Major period ( Dasa

is Bndha and his period is 17 year-:.

The total duration of Bevathr is 56-18 gh. or3378\'lr•

19
For 3378 Vgi the period of lludha is 17 yean~.
Therefore, I Vighatika !1 years
3371'1

The mean duration of a Nakshatra is 60 Gh.

From thi•• deduct Bhukti of Bevathi nn 2nd September
1928.
That means 60 Gh. 22 5 37-55.

Adding the time of birth we get, 37-55 + 15·5 =53

which is Gitrbh:l Gatha.

Therefore. 53 Ghatikas li"'liRO years

or 3180 V~r. 3378

= 16 years, and Budha Dasa.

Therefore Balance nf Budha Dasa at birth is 17 years

,,;,.,. 16 ~'""'"' and I day or II months and 29 days.

Method for Lagna Sputa or Verification of the

correct time of birth
We have said that Lagna denotes birth time. Note
the correct time of sunrise at the place of birth. Dcducl
this from the time of birth. Convert this time into Ghatikas
and Vighatikas. Multiply this by 6 ond add the Solar Date
to the product. o;,·ide it by 30. The quotient obtained
indicates the ordinal nunt~r of Houses from the position
of Sun at the time of birth. The remainder indicates the
birth degree.

To verify the Week Day, multiply the time of birth in

Ghatikas ( Nazhi:;:ais) by 3 and divide the product by 7.
20
The remainder obtained shows the number of days to
be counted from Sunday or Friday to the day ui birth.

To verify the Nakshatra, convert the time of birth

into \'lgh.,tlkot.<.Add to this the number obtained by
counting from Mesha to the House where Chandra
is situate. Multiply the result by 4. Divide the product
by 27. The remainder, obtained, gives the number
of the birth star to '"' counted from Aowini. This
is for Sukla P:.ksha or the bright fortnh:nt. For the dark
fortnight, count from Dhani,.htR. If the result obtained
does not give the Nakshatra ( Star) of the Native, it
should be one of the other two Kona Nakshatras. If these
tests are satisfied, the time of birth is correct. The other
Kana Nakshatras of Aswini, for example, would L.,.. thP
Tenth and the N int~th ~>UU'5 from Aswini. This means
Aswini, Makha and Mula are in kona or Triangle. So is
the case with the rest.

Example

Beferring to the last chart we find that the birth

of the native is at 15·.5 gh. As per Bute, multiplying this by
6, we get 15·5"6"90.30. Adding to thi$, the Solar Date
viz, 19, wo arrive at 109-30. \Ve have now to divide this
by 30. 109-30+30. we get 3 as quotient leaving a rrmo.m
der of 19·30. So counting from the pcsition of Ravi, we
get at the Sign Thula. But as after dividing, there i• a
remainder, Thula is complete and the Lagna falls in the
next Sign Vrischika. And 19-30 denotes the exact degTee
of birth m Vrischika Lagna.
21

Multiplying, as per Rule, the birth time vi7. 15-5 gh.

by 3 and dividing the product by 7, we get :-

~ as Quotient and 3t as balance. Since we get Jt

7 as r~rnninder. we have to reckon it as 3 complete
days and hence, 4 days must be counted from Sunday or
Friday. Monday, the day of birth is the 4th day from
Friday.

Then, to tl•c toer;jiccrtirmo! .VllkslrCJIItrrt:-

Converting the time of birth into Vi.chatika-., we get
905 vg. SinceCh:wdra is m Meena the number from Mesha
to Meena would be JZ, Adding this to 905. we get 917
which when multiplied by 4. as per Rule, gives a product of
3668. Divid'ngthis by 27, we get a quotient o£35 and a
remainder of 23. As tho native is hom in Krishna Paksha,
we have to count from Dhanishra. 23 Constellations.
Doing so, we arrive at Jyeshta which is in Kana with
l~evathi, the birth star.

The Houses (Bhavas) and their indications.

When the Planets give Results.

Sathvik planets give good results when they remain

pure and unalloyed, in Sathvik nature. The same applies
to Rajasic and Thn.m:~.sic planets.

It is not very harmful if the Sathvik and Rajasic

planets get Rajasic and Sathvik natures respectively but
they should never acquire T'hn.masic nature.

And. the Tha111asic planets should never get Rajasic

nature if they are to give satisfactory results. Extremely
bad results occur if the Thamasie planets get Rajasic
nature.

Constellations of Kethu, Guru and Chandra start

their Navamsha from Mesha and end in Karka. Con-
stellations of Kuja, Sani and Sukra start their Navamsha
from Simha and end in Vrischika. Constellations of Balm,
Budha and Ravi start their XR.\'a111!fhn from Dhumu1 and
end u11 Meena.
l~.,·piarlalio,, :-\\'~ have said that constellations of
Kethu start their Navamsha from Mesha. That means that
Aswini one of the constellations of Kethu slarts its first
l'ndn from Mesha. The second Pada falls in Vrishabha ;
the third in Mithuna and the fourth in Karka. The same
applies to the other constellations of Kethu, Guru and
Chandra. Next Bharani (starts its first l'ncln) frmn Simha in
Navamsha. The second falls in Kanya, the third in Thula
and the fourth in Vrischika.
And Krithika starts from Dhanus and ends in Meena
111 the abovesaid manner.

I. Chandra in Aswini, produces had e!Tects.
Aswini is Kelhu's constellation, and Kethu 1s a Tha-

with the result that the native incurred debts, got involved

that Budha has come under Chandra's sway.
Further the 6th House represents eoemity, litigation

combination with Sani. An inimical almos'"

Thus, Guru though good to Mesha Lagna in places

Comparing (I) and (II) we see that in both cases, Guru
gives mixed results. \Vo should know the proportion of
good and bad in either case.
In (I) good results will be ~:reator than bad by reason
of RavJ remaining in his own House and Sani being
weak-
50
In (It) bad results will be greater than good by reason
ol Ravi being weak and Sani being strong.
Therefore genera.! rulings should be properly applied
before attempting predictions-

Similarly. for predicting about vehicles, Sukra

Regarding landed prrperty, a scrutiny of Kuja is
necessary.

power of tile native. When the pror:rl'ath•e pOwer of the

native is weak, what is the benefit of the examination of
the 5th House, in whkh, p~rhaps, adopted children are in-
dicated ? The following are the conditions which are to be
seen in this connection:

I. When the Lord of the 7th Hou•P occupies Sani"s

or Bndha ·~ constellations. which are effeminate the
native will not have procrt"ath•c powtr&. In these cases
Budha or Snni should be in their own con~t~lli\tjons. or
Sani 10 the constellations of Budha or Budha in the conste
·llationa of Sani. Further. if this Budha or Sani occupy
weak places without the aspect or conjunction of powerful
male or female planets. the above rul< holds good; that 1s
to say, Sani or Budha should not be in any way c:onnectect
with male or female planets for the native to become un-
productive.
2. When the planet owning the 7th House is deprived
of its Guna.the power of procreation of the native will be
at its lowest ebb.

3. If the Lord of the constellation in which the Lord

of the 7th House 1s situated, be weak or powerless. the
procreative power of the native also becomes weak.
4. Th< planet which occupies the 7th House •hcuiC:
also be examined for predicting the power of procreation
of the native.
5. The weakness or strength of the planet which as-
pects powerfully the 7th House or ''" Lord, shouid also be
taken into consideration when the procreative power of
the native is to be predicted.
85
A careful and balanced judgment is to be made 1-..,fortl
venturing to predict about the l'utra Bhava or 5th House.
J·"cmalc or ~lale issues of the native will be indicated
by lhc constellation in which the Lord of 5th House
•• situated. Not only this but Rlsn an •xnmlnnttoll of the
planet which is in the 5th House or which aspects the 5th
House, or which joins the Lord of 5th House, is required ;
the positions, power, natures, of these said planets should
also, he taken mro constdu ntion.
lt is necessary to t~XI\minc. the 9th House also in
conjunction with the aforesaid ruling, as the 9th House
becomes fifth House, from the 5th House from La:;na.
The number of children for which there is a possibility
of births for the native, will be indicated by the combined
numerical value of the number of padas, or fJU:UlcrR. of
the constellations cccupled by the Lord of the 5th, the
planet aspecting the fifth House and tts Lord and planet
occuppying the 5th House.
The birth of children will be 1n the constellations
or Lagnas of the planets connected with the Putra Bhava.
Wherever the planet which is responsible for the
birth of children has connections with malefics, I0$5•
deformity or sickness are indicated to the issues.

If malefic planets (peltaming to the Lagna) occupy
the 2nd, 4th, 7th and 12th Houses, the chances of the

Even if these Houses were to he occupied by the nla1e>tlc

If the Lord of the 7th House os in the constellations
of the Lord of the 6th or Sth House, the number of times

Similar effects may be seen when the Jeeva of the

Ayur Bhava - 8th House Longevity.
The Life of a native may be classified under three
divisions as follows .-
Aipayus or Short life (up to 33 years)
Madyayus or lntermediar)·life (34 to 6f• years)
Poornayus or Full life (beyond 66 years)
Alpayus (Short life) :-
If the Lord of th' 8th H ou~e situates in a
constellation, whose Lord occupies an enemy's House
debilitates or becomes weak, the native will not
108
li\·e beyond 33 years. Anyhow, if this { ord is llBpect•d
or joined by ti1c Benefic planets of the Lagna under which
tht" native is born, the life will f')o.lcod to the completion
of 33 )o"e~rs, otherwise the native's death will occur before
33 years.

Madyaus (Intermediary life): -

If the Lord of 8th House occupies a con~tdlation
whose Lord is situated in a friendly House the native
lives up to titi years. If one of the malefic planets of the
Lagna aspects or joins this Lord {con•tellation Lord),
the death will befall the native before the ..;nd of fifi years.

Poornayns (Full life) : -

The Lord of the constellation in which the 1.-ord of
the 8th House is •ilunte,l becomes exalted, or is in his own
House, he gives full life to the native ; but the period cf
life given by the planet by its occupation in )ts own house
will be less than that which is given by the planet
occupyfng iu. House of exaltation. In the case of
exaltation, the native will live beyond seventy•seven
years. This holds l{o<d only when there is no connection
whatever between the constellati'on Lord and the malefics.

When the Lord of the constellation in which the

Lord of 8th House is situated occupies a neutral bou5e. and
gets special strength on account of his occupation,
for instance, Guru, Budha in Lagna Kendra; Chandra,
Sukra in 4th House, etc., the native lives to middle age.

Generally, when the Lord of Life (constellation Lord)

occupies Chara R~sces, the period of life is prolonged;

life is shortened.

Kendra and exalted.
Yet the native has had no progress his official
career and is drawing a poor salary
The progress in profession is marred particularly in
Budha Dasa, as he ts in Chandra's con.stellatlon Hastha.
Chandra cccupying the fath House from Lagna is
weak. This has weakened Budha. Budha the Lord of
the lOth House though exalted, has become weak for he is
situated in Hastha, hence his exalatiuu becomes ineffective.
The comhination of the l~ords of the lOth and ll th Houses
also mars the good en eels. Here Cha.ndr& being the
Jeeva controls the lOth House also. Thus we see that
Chandra has combined in himself the effects of
the lOth and lllh Houses.
