1. Describe the morphology, habitat and general


characteristics.
a. Morphology
i. Adult worm
● Narrow, flat worm
● Pointed anterior and rounded posterior ends
● Oral sucker is larger than ventral sucker
situated at junction of anterior and middle
3rd of body
● Has 2 deeply lobulated testes situated one
behind the other of posterior 3rd of body
ii. Eggs
● Ovoid
● Have thick, light yellowish -brown shell(bile
stained)
● Small knob at posterior end
● Contain ciliated embryos(miracidia) when
discharged into bile ducts
● Hatch only after ingestion by suitable
molluscan hosts
● Do not float in saturated solution of common
salt
b. Habitat
● Adult worm in biliary tract and pancreatic
duct(occasionally)
c. General characteristics
● It is a trematode
● Common name: chinese liver fluke, oriental liver
fluke
● Endemic in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam
