Why food

safety?
Introduction
What is food safety?

As Victorians, we enjoy great food and we produce some of the highest quality and freshest
food in the world.

All Victorian food businesses, such as supermarkets, delis, take-aways, restaurants and cafes
have to comply with Victorian and Australian food safety laws and standards by selling food
that is safe to eat and free of any contamination.

Even the best food in the world can turn nasty if poorly handled, stored or cooked.

Once the food is in your hands, it's up to you to keep it safe to eat.
