THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
He spat out their shoes.
The tears collect in his eyes but he stays on task.

THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
I know what you're thinking, you
think your special and different.
You think that no matter what
happened to them, surely it won't
happen to you... because if you
were lucky, these words might just
save your life.
Pause.

THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
Before you change, I need to warm
you up.
(Scoffs)
The others were a lot easier than
this, your life is binary. This or
that. Yes or no. Black or white.
Dead... or alive. You don't see the
nuances, the beauty, what makes
life worth living. I bet you've
never cried at a sunset, because
all you see is the darkness taking
over. You don't see the reds, the
oranges, the bright yellows or feel
the warm comforting glow. I
monologued in the hopes it'd buy
you time to notice them yourself
but alas... you're either colour
blind or stupid. Look around the
room.
The camera smoothly pans, tracking THE GENTLEMANs head
movement as he scans the church. He sees nothing new.
THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
Really...? Close your eyes.
THE GENTLEMAN scrunches his eyes shut.
THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
Picture blood, feel its heat as it
pulses through your veins. Feel
your heart push it around your
body, it rhythmically thumping
through your hands. Pump after
pump. Hold on to it and don't you
dare let that image go.

THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
Right, let's try that again.
(Under breath)
3, 2, 1...
THE GENTLEMAN opens his eyes and mimicks the same movement as
earlier scanning the church. This time differentiated with
streaks of red flashing in frame, like an artist striking
their paint brush revealing humanoid figures hidden in the
shadows who were there all along, painted bright red. As the
camera pans around the church we see these figures spaced out
and flashing into colour.
THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
Gooooood, now we're getting there.
THE GENTLEMAN starts to hyperventilate before THE PRIEST
grounds him back.
THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
Not just them, but him. You know
he's there, yet you reject it. You
know what's lurking in the dark but
you pass it off as nothing more
than a child's imagination making
the shadows dance. You feel it, yet
you deny it. You see this world
with such tunnel vision.
THE PRIEST pulls him in close.

Just accept it. Let him in. And for

goodness sake.

He whispers in his ear.

THE PRIEST (CONT'D)
Open your eyes.
MS of THE GENTLEMAN looking just past the camera, he takes a
sharp inhale of air as his eyes start to water along with a
slow pull on the string score. With the slow pull on the
strings, the edges of the frame begin to stretch, widen and
tease what was hidden out of sight.
