Calling to the company

Receptionist : Hello, Jimmy company, can I help you?


Jono : Hello, i’m Jono Jackson from Liberty restaurant, I would like to speak to Mr.
Wisnu
Receptionist : Just a moment, please.
Jono : Ok
Receptionist : i’m sorry Mr. Jono, Mr. Wisnu is not at the office this moment. Would you
leave the message?
Jono : yes, could you please tell him the hall room will be available the day after
tomorrow at 9 am to 12am
Receptionist : anything else?
Jono : No, that is all.
Receptionist : Ok Mr. Jono , I’ll tell him the message as soon as he gets back to the office.
Jono : Thanks
Receptionist : Thank you for calling Jimmy company. Bye.

Calling to the Private number

Richard : Hello
Lily : Hello, is Michael there?
Richard : No, he won’t be back till after nine
Lily : well, can i leave a message?
Richard : Sure, let me get a pen .... Ok, go ahead.
Lily : Tell him Lily called and i need to know if he still want to go on camping trip this
coming weekend
Richard : Ok, i’ll make sure he gets your message
Lily : Thank you
Richard : your welcome

Read and choose 2 situations the following situations and make a dialogue about taking a
simple phone!

1. You (caller) and Family member (receiver)


One of your American friends is studying Indonesian in your country. You want to invite
him to see an Indonesian movie together. You dial a number of the home where he is
staying, but he is not in. A member of his family answers the phone, and you leave a
message.
2. You (caller) and Receptionist (receiver)
Since you will graduate soon, you are sending your resume to some companies. On Monday
you got a call saying that the HR manager at Apple computer wiil interview you on Friday.
Today is Friday, but due to an emergency you can’t go to the interview. You phone the
company and the receptionist answers. She tells you that the HR manager is not in the
office, so you leave a message.

3. You (caller) and Secretary (receiver)


Your five year old child is sick and you decided to take him to the children’ hospital this
morning. Before you go, you have to tell your boss that you can’t come to work today.
Unfortunately, when you phone her, she is not in the office. Her secretary answers the
phone. You leave your message with her.
4. Unknown (caller) and you (receiver)
You are in your office and you answer a phone call. The caller want to speak to your
colleague but your colleague is out of town on a business trip. You take the caller’s name,
hone number and message.
