1. What is the difference between System software and application software?

The difference between system software and application software is that, the system
software is the type of software that requires to run the hardware parts of the computer
and other application software. This type of software is a set of programs to control and
manage the operations of a computer. It uses low level languages to write the system
software. Moreover, the system software is a general-purpose software. While
application software is used to perform different applications on the computer. This type
of software may also consist of a single program. It uses high level languages to write
this type of software. And it is a specific purpose software.

2. In the generations of computers both VLSI and ULSI is called microprocessor

or microchip of CPU. But what is the difference between the two?
The VLSI stands for Very Large Scale Integration, it is the process of making an IC or
an integrated circuit by combining millions of MOS or the metal-oxide-silicon transistor
onto a single chip. It was created for integrated circuits with transistor count more than
20,000 and 1,000,000. While ULSI or Ultra Large Scale Integration is the process of
integration or embedding millions of transistors on a single silicon semiconductor
microchip. Ultra Large Scale Integration coined to the integrated circuits with transistors
count of more than 1,000,000.

3. What probably is the main reason why the sizes of a computer significantly
reduced from the first generation to the recent?
I think the main reason why the sizes of a computer significantly reduced from the first
generation to the recent is because having a bigger size computer may not be that
convenient and reliable to the people. And also, there were a lot of disadvantages of
having a huge size computer and one of it is, the huge size computers were very
expensive which means that not a lot of people can afford it. Having a small size
computer may be more convenient and reliable to a lot of people and also can function
to what the people needs into a computer.
4. How CPU works to connect input devices to the output devices?
The CPU or Central Processing Unit is referred as the “brains” of the computer. It is a
part of computer system that is also known as the processor or the microprocessor. The
central Processing Unit is responsible for performing a sequence of stored instructions
which can be called as a program, and this program of the Central Processing Unit will
take inputs from an input device. After that, it will process the input in some way and
then, the output, the results to an output device.

5. In your recent and future challenges as an engineer, how computers and

related computer devices can help and achieve tasks?
Computers and related computer devices are very helpful in achieving my tasks
especially in this time of pandemic. Because of the pandemic, the students were not
allowed to have face-to-face classes and not having face-to-face classes is really hard
but that does not stop us, students to continue learning, that is why we enrolled to
online classes and this is where the computer and the related computer devices were
being used. The computer and related computer devices are the tool for that can help
me learn more about my course. Using these, I am able to communicate to my
professors and I am able to do all of my tasks. Moreover, to my future challenges as an
engineer I am very much certain that computers and related computer devices will
become a very big help to achieve all of the tasks that I am assigned as an engineer.
