II. CONDUCTING LECTURES

The lectures are done with interactive lectures, discussion related to the topics or themes in accordance
to lecture activities, then proceed with quizzes and assignment in and outside the classroom. In each
meeting session, lecturer presents the topic to be discussed and slightly reviews the material that has
been given previously. Reminded that overall learning topics are listed in the RPS (attached) that are
delivered at the beginning of each lecture along with learning outcomes. It also aims to provide a more
comprehensive understanding to each students and support preparation for midterm (UTS) and final
exams (UAS).

During the lecture, the assessments are as follows:

1. Midterm that conducted on the 8th week to measure the achievement of CP-1, CP-2, SO-1
2. Assignments and quizzes that given to students both individual assignments and to measure
the achievement of CP-1, CP-2, CP-3, CP-4, SO-1
3. Final exam that conducted on the 16 th week which aims to measure the achievement of CP-3,
CP-4, SO-1

III.LECTURES EVALUATION

1. Qualitative Evaluation

The course performance evaluation is quantitative based on University Value Standards as in

Table 6 below.

Table 6. Weight of the Final Assessment Criteria

SCORE POINT CONVERSION

VALUE
85 ≤ score ≤ 100 A 4
80 ≤ score < 85 A- 3,75
75 ≤ score ≤ 80 B+ 3,5
70 ≤ score < 75 B 3
65≤ score < 70 B- 2,75
60 ≤ score < 65 C+ 2,5
50 ≤ score < 60 C 2
40 ≤ score < 50 D 1
0 ≤ score < 40 E 0

Note :
T value is given if there is an incomplete assessment component, i.e. an incomplete assignment, or
not attend midterm or final exam. If until the end of the period of entry the student scores do not
complete the assessment component, then the value will automatically change to E.

The Basic Telecommunications course in the first semester of 2018/2019 is carried out following the
Semester Lecture Plan (RPS) where the results of student assessments are shown in Table 7. The
distribution of grades for the two parallel classes is shown in Figure 1.

2. Qualitative Evaluation

For qualitative evaluations based on the results of student questionnaires on the course described
as follows. To find out student responses to the preparation of lectures, questionnaires are given to
students with the following questions.

Q1 : Lecturers are able to define and explain course objectives and learning outcomes.
Q2 : Lecturers have readiness to provide the material taught.
Q3 : Lecturers are able to provide the information needed effectively.
Q4 : Lecturers encourage students to play an active role in the learning process.
Q5 : Lecturers are always ready to provide additional explanations if needed by students either through
electronic or face-to-face.
Q6 : Lectures are well organized.
Q7 : The lecturer makes me feel free to ask questions and express opinions.
Q8 : The course material prepared is very helpful.
Q9 : In general, students have learned a lot in this subject.
The results of the student questionnaire related to the preparation of the Basic Telecommunication
course by the course’s lectureses on average are shown in Figure 2 where TS = Disagree, N = Neutral,
and S = Agree. The graph in Figure 2 shows that the number of course participants who Agree (S) for
each question on the questionnaire (Q1 – Q9) is 33 people.

IV.REFLECTION OF EDUCATION IMPLEMENTATION

1. Quantitative : Student Grade Results

The final evaluation results from two parallel classes for the Telecommunications Basic course are
shown in table 7 with an average value 2,64 and the highest value of 4. Figure 3 shows that the
percentage of students who SUCCEED is 71% of the total number of course participants.

2. Qualitative : Questionnaire Results

Based on the results of the student questionnaire in Figure 2, the lecture preparation (Figure 2)
obtain 66% of AGREE answer on the questionnaire. As for the PI value of 2,64 (scale 4). The
obstacles in the implementation of this course are lack of practice / tutorial on course subject and
class schedule coincide with other course in result of change schedule by another lecturer. Therefore,
it needs to be improved by increasing tutorial or reviewing question, and better coordination for class
schedule.
