Generally interior design is the art and science of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a

heathier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space. But now the
question is who does an interior design? an interior designer is someone who plans, researches,
coordinates and manages such enhancement projects. The role of interior designers is to enhance
the function, safety and aesthetics of interior spaces. An interior designer asks how your rooms will
be used, who lives there, about your colour and style preferences, budget, location and project
timeline. Its important to have a client brief including what are the client’s likes and dislikes about a
room, which furniture is non-negotiable, if there are children, pet or other considerations.

The expectations from an interior designer are increasing day by day because people are
turning towards creatively designed spaces as every client want functional, safe and aesthetically
pleasant environment where they are living. Clients want something new, innovative concepts
according to their requirements as well as they expect creatively designed furnitures and spaces as
they feel like the furnitures and spaces are made only for them which will not available anywhere
such as market or online. Every client has such thought in mind as they pay for their house so the
designer’s responsibility is to do according to client’s point of view/ perspectives. Every designer
remodels a space into functional and attractive by considering client’s needs and budget and
according to that they make ordinary room into extraordinary.

Interior designers should also have qualities such as artistic ability, creativity, detail
oriented, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, visualization etc., so if the clients ask anything
about the interior, designer should give answer to that particular question and explain to them in
such a way that they can understand easily and think about the designers as what a talented
designer he is. If they impress with designer’s concept, they will suggest his/her name to another
person.

To create a good partnership between designer and client, there needs to be compatibility
and a high degree of confidence in having higher the right designer. Interior designer should also
provide more option of designs, realistic budgets, visual aids, etc., interior designer should also have
more experience of interior project work. He /she also has to go on site to do the interior of the
room rather than only instructing workers on phone as interior work becomes more better when
designer personally go on site.

Clients also want popular interior designers to do their work as they think they can do our
work more professionally so every designer should publish his/her work.He/she has to show
uniqueness while doing interior. e. g. Ananya Bhattacharya has showed her uniqueness by doing DIY
by available products & uploaded on YouTube.So each designer should think beyond the client’s
expectations.So the role & expectations from interior designer are very crucial part of interior
