Special Immigrant Visa petition. You and any derivative applicants who will accompany you to

ONLINE IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION

All travelling applicants must complete and submit Form DS-260 (Online Immigrant Visa and
Alien Registration Application). You can access the form and find instructions at the website
below:
ceac.state.gov

NOTE: To complete and submit Form DS-260 you must have your NVC Case Number, Invoice
I.D. Number, which are listed at the top of this message.

ELECTRONIC PROCESSING

Electronic Processing is required for Special Immigrant Visa applicants seeking SI and SQ visas.
To accelerate processing, NVC will accept your forms and documents as Portable Document
Format (PDF) email attachments.

You must have:


 Regular access to email,
 The ability to scan required documents into PDF files, and,
 The ability to submit all forms electronically.

NVC cannot accept paper copies of the forms and documents for your case.

CIVIL DOCUMENTS

Because you are applying for a Special Immigrant Visa under the SI (Certain Aliens Employed
by the U.S. Government in Iraq and Afghanistan as Translators or Interpreters) or SQ (Certain
Iraqis or Afghans Employed by or on Behalf of the U.S. Government) category, you must email
scanned copies of the following documents to nvcsiv@state.gov:

 U.S. military I.D. and/or U.S. government I.D.


 Civil documents (certificates of birth, marriage, and/or marriage termination if
applicable).
NOTE: If you are an Iraqi national, please include all pages of your family book.
 Documents for any accompanying family members (i.e., spouse and/or unmarried
children under the age of 21).
 Police certificates (see special instructions below).
 Biographical data page of your passport (see special instructions for Iraqi nationals
below)
 USCIS approval notices for any other immigrant petitions filed with USCIS on your
behalf.

NOTE: Please provide our office with English translation of all documents not in English. Your
translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating the following:
 The translation is accurate, and;
 The translator is competent to translate.
POLICE CERTIFICATE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

All visa applicants - including accompanying family members - must submit a police certificate
for any country where they have lived for at least six months after reaching age 16. Please use our
online Document Finder tool to see if a police certificate is available for the applicable country.
To use the Document Finder, follow the link below, type the name of the country that issued your
civil document, and click "search."

NOTE: You do not need to submit any certificates that the above website indicates are
unavailable.

A OR G SERIES PASSPORTS (IRAQI NATIONALS ONLY)

We strongly encourage Iraqi national applicants to obtain an A or G series passport. For more
information on Iraqi passports please visit the following website:

RESETTLEMENT ASSISTANCE

If you are interested in receiving resettlement assistance in the United States, follow the
instructions below to apply for those benefits.

You can find information about this program by reading the information found in "Step 4" on the

By clicking on the resettlement benefits information link on the website noted above you will be
sent directly to the instructions and form that you must complete and submit to apply for these
benefits.

By clicking on the Special Immigrant Visa Biodata Form link on the website noted above you
will be sent directly to Form DS-0234 (Special Immigrant Biodata Form DS-0234). Each
travelling applicant must complete and submit this form.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

You are responsible for paying any processing fees related to the petition at the time of your
interview. A list of the fee requirements can be found on the following website:

If you choose not to participate in the resettlement assistance program as explained in the section
above, you will also be responsible for all travel arrangements and expenses to reach the U.S.
Embassy or Consulate where your visa interview will take place.

You should NOT make any travel arrangements to the United States, sell property, or resign
employment until the U.S. Embassy or Consulate has issued a visa.
