Wake each day to a sparkling cityscape or harbour view
and feel the city stir and bustle around you. At the end of
each day, venture home through Auckland’s cultural and
culinary centre.
The Pacifica will redefine the quality of city living, bringing
elegance and opportunity to a life lived at the centre
of everything.

A J E W E L O N T H E WAT E R
Inspired by the beauty of Auckland and its backdrop, The Pacifica
could not exist anywhere else. Location and culture are central to the
architectural concept of The Pacifica. Every element is inspired by its
environment: the twisting totem-like form; the archetypal Auckland
laneway; the sparkling jewel-like structure; material enhancements;
and colours referencing Auckland’s coastal setting. As it draws from its
surroundings, The Pacifica also gives back, adding glamour and energy
to the city, the skyline and the culture that enfolds it.
Provenance (from the French provenir — to come from) is central to
the architectural concept. The Pacifica draws on the unique attributes
of its waterfront site and cultural heritage to create its iconic form.
Jaimin Atkins | Head Architect

Rising above the sparkling waters of the Waitematā Harbour, the
facade is designed to reflect the waters of Auckland, both literally and
metaphorically. The building’s unique form and hue are inspired by
the rolling waves of Auckland’s famous beaches. The graduated glass
diffusions mimic and reflect shades of the bustling harbour below.
Spectacular shifting views provide constant fascination. Residents will
be able to sit back and watch superyachts, cruise ships and sailboats
navigate the harbour and gulf beyond. For those so inclined, the view
from the water looking back to your home will be equally gratifying.

Italy does food well, so it’s not surprising that since
opening their first establishment in 2004, Hipgroup have
been heavily influenced by Italian cuisine. Executive Chef
Jo Pearson regularly visits Italy to immerse herself in the
Italian food culture.
Spanning the historic Altrans and Quay buildings is the
culmination of Jo’s experiences and Hipgroup’s own food
philosophies: Amano. With a hyper-seasonal menu that
changes daily, the restaurant revolves around provenance,
seasonality, and sustainability. The quality of the ingredient
is at the heart of everything Amano does because here it’s
about real food. Bread and pasta are hand-made with organic,
New Zealand-grown wheat milled on-site. Seafood is chosen
strictly on how it’s fished and the sustainability of its species.
As for the meat, whole carcasses are bought direct from the
farm to ensure everything from nose to tail is respected—and
it’s cooked exclusively over coals. This philosophy is applied
equally passionately to the venue’s design, with the striking
terrazzo floor laid with marble off cuts, and the mother-of-pearl
countertops made from discarded oyster shells.
