IV. Rationale:
Gender and Development (GAD) is one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It is a
must that all are aware of GAD issues. DepEd has seen the importance of GAD trainings
which is why it has allowed the use of 5% of MOOE funds for such training. Teachers should
be made aware of GAD issues in order to support its mainstreaming in DepEd.
V. Objectives:
a. To raise awareness among the teachers and non-teaching personnel enabling them
to be more committed and responsive to eliminating gender biases and bullying in
school and in class.
b. Address appropriate actions observing the process on learner’s complaints.
c. Draw out school based and classroom based plans, programs, projects and activities
which are GAD sensitive and responsive.
