Performance Task #1

1. Based from what was discussed in Chapter 1, make a research and compose a paragraph explaining
the Trends in Entrepreneurship, Types of Businesses, and its Structures and Characteristics.

Based on our discussion in Chapter 1, there are various trends in entrepreneurship that
entrepreneurs use to start their businesses and make it grow to be a successful venture. An
example of a current trend is crowd funding; it is used by entrepreneurs who want to launch a
product but does not have enough funds to manufacture the product. They have other people
raise money (typically people who are interested in the product) to fund the making and
selling of the product.

In entrepreneurship, there are three major kinds of business: service, merchandising and
manufacturing. Service businesses offer service as their product, examples are delivery
businesses, salons, banks, schools and law firms. Merchandising businesses buy products as a
wholesale and sell these at a retail price, examples are grocery stores, convenience stores and
other resellers like sari sari stores. Manufacturing businesses combines raw materials and
make a new product to sell to consumers, factories that make different products like
shampoos and soaps are examples.

2. What trend do you think is the most practiced today?

Businesses that work online seems to be doing great these days as the consumers find it to be
more convenient and can be personalized according to their tastes. Online shops like Lazada,
Zalora, Shopee and the like are popular to the consumers especially to the younger
genarations. The number of businesses like these are getting larger and larger by time.

3. How does this affect you as an SHS student?

As a student, these trends affect me because I am a consumer myself, the field of
entrepreneurship is changing according to the needs of its consumers. There are different
trends showing up every year that may work better with me. More products and services that
will help me with not just my academics but also my day to day life will show up because
entrepreneurship and its trends is ever evolving and ever changing.
