The Moscow Kremlin

The Moscow Kremlin is a huge brick building in the center of Moscow. The first Kremlin was built in the
12th century and have had many changes until our days. This building is the main symbol of Russia now,
and tourists from all over the world come to see it.

The first Kremlin was built of wood in 1156. This building was originally intended as a fortress that would
protect the territory of Moscow. After 2 centuries, the Kremlin became white-stone due to the need to
strengthen the city's borders. Finally, in 1455, the Kremlin became the brick building under the
government of Ivan III.

However, over the centuries, the necessity to protect the city's borders has disappeared, and the
Kremlin has lost its main importance, so State Duma of the Russian Federation made the Kremlin the
official residence of the President of Russia to prevent this building from becoming useless. Now the
Kremlin is the main symbol of Moscow and whole Russia, and I am proud that this building is located in
my homeland.

I visited Red Square (the place where this building is located) in September last time and I was surprised
by its size again. I think that the Moscow Kremlin certainly has its own atmosphere, and I definitely
recommend visiting the Moscow Kremlin to everyone.
