Biology Internal Assessment format

Lab report should be 6-12 pages long.

1. Title page –Research question, Subject, Student ID (IB candidate number)

2. Table of contents ( with page numbers)
3. Introduction/ Background info(literature), Include previous scientific studies
done(data/trends etc.)
4. Purpose/ Research Question (include personal significance here)
5. Hypothesis ( If, then statement)
6. Materials ( e.g. 250 cc beaker, degree Celsius, meters) USE SI UNITS ONLY

7. Variables (Describe them: independent, dependent, control/constants)

8. How did you design your control group?
9. Procedure(Step by step)
10. Quantitative data(Raw data tables, include various instrument Uncertainties) -
11. Processed data –(Averages, Standard Deviations)whatever if applicable, any other
relevant forms of data processing maybe included too (mode,median,range)
12. Qualitative data(observations/visual data)
13. Graphs ( best fit lines OR bar graphs)—include R²(linear regression), include
uncertainties on both axis if relevant
Each graph needs a title, label the axis, include units on the x and y axis
14. Show any statistical analysis if possible.

Talk about uncertainties, outliers, etc.
