The noise seemingly got louder as the

room got unsteady and the table wobbled with
his anger.

breath and then he goes to the teacher (Rowan)
to tell him what’s been bothering him.

Jamie:
Hey, sir. There’s something that I need to talk
to you about. It’s something that’s really,
really nagging at me and I can’t put it enough
anymore otherwise I feel like I’m going to
punch someone’s lights out.

The teacher (Rowan) turns from what he was

doing and then goes to talk to him.

Rowan:

Come on then, let’s sit down and talk, see what
you want to do about that anger, and if you
want to go and talk to the Counselors at
Student Services about it.

Jamie:
Sir, I’ve just gotten sick and tired of this
goddamn course, man. It’s just gotten harder to
understand all the damn time and I just want to
either quit and or go sort this out, Somehow!
Before I beat someone’s face in. And yes, I
want to go down there now with Connor, if
that’s alright with you?

Rowan:
All right, all right calm down! We’ll send you
down with Connor now.

Camera splits to Connor either on a computer

or writing something on a piece of paper.

Rowan:
Connor!

Connor looks up.

Connor:
Yes sir, What is it?
Rowan:
Can you go with Jamie and make sure he gets to
Student services Safely.

Connor:
Yeah okay sir. Come on Jamie lets get the hell

CUT TO: STUDENT SERVICES - CONTINUOUS

He arrives at student services with Connor,

goes to a teacher and then starts a
conversation with Kristan about what they
should do to deal with his stress.

Jamie:
Hello.

Kristan:
Oh, Hello!

Jamie:
I was wondering if you could talk to me
about something.

Kristan:
Yeah, yeah, come and sit. Grab a chair.

Jamie shuts the door and sits down.

Kristan:
So, what do you want to talk about?

Jamie:
I was just feeling stressed. And… I’ve
just had enough today and I can’t handle
it. And I don't know what to do.

Kristan:
Alright, what’s the… hhm, can you
Identify the source of your stress?
Where does it originate from? Is it from
home? Just general displeasure at home?
As in like … what’s causing YOUR stress?

Jamie:
… I think it’s mostly to do with work to
be honest. And … everytime I work, I
feel like it’s getting harder and harder
and harder. And I just lose the
motivation and … overall it just makes
me feel stressed.

Kristan:
Do you want to move to a different
course? Do you want to go to a different
college? Or do you want to ask the
teachers to set the work back at a more
eligible pace?

Jamie:
… I just feel like I need more help with
the course, I do want to stay on the
course, but I’m just so stressed out
from it and I’m just tired.

Kristan:
Alright, so would a TA, otherwise known
as a Teaching assistant, help you deal
with your current stress in the way so
you can upload some work on them to deal
with and they can help you with the
work?

Jamie:
I’ll just Accept any help.

Kristan searches for his pen so he can sign the

documents he has.
Kristan:
Alright, … hmm, where’s my pen? Anyway,
don't worry I’ll assign Mrs Roberts to
be your TA and see how it from there for
a few weeks, but if that doesn't work
out then we can always move you to a
different course.

Jamie:
Okay.

NEGATIVE ROUTE:

CUT TO: CLASSROOM - CONTINUOUS

Jamie is visibly stressed, the camera

movements are much less controlled at this
point and are getting shaky. He is somewhat
panicking at the noise on top of his incomplete
work, the camera whips at the other students
making noise, the pressure is unbearable
until--
Jamie:
SCREW THIS!

Jamie flips his table and its contents,

drawing the fire of the others attending the
lesson before he storms out of the room,
leaving some of his things.

Student:
Should we tell him about his stuff?

CUT TO: EXT. COLLEGE/INT. COLLEGE LOBBY - CONTINUOUS

Jamie has been storming down the corridors

until he gets to the lobby/courtyard. He is
about to leave when his conscience starts to
talk to him.
Conscience:
Alright, Jamie. You have a great education
here, you have good friends and you are just

going to throw it all away just because you hit
a rough patch?!
Jamie:
Three weeks behind on the work is a “rough
patch”? I thought that was an admissible reason
to expel someone!
Conscience:
Is it just because you won’t ask for an
extension?
Jamie:
No, it’s not just the work, it’s the noise,
it’s the grade, it’s-- Wait, you’re in my head,
you should know this!

Jamie walks over to the nearest pole and

slams his head against it repeatedly in an
attempt to silence the voice.

Jamie:
GET. OUT. OF. MY. HEAD.

Conscience:
No, instead, here’s an ultimatum; Either you go
back to class and/or get your stress seen to OR
you can walk on out and work at Maccies’ for
the next few years.

Jamie rubs his head and mulls over his

choices.
Jamie:
… Well, when you say it like that…

Conscience:
Don’t tell me you are seriously on the fence
about this!

RETURN ENDING:
Jamie begrudgingly goes back into the
college, walking to the Student Services
entrance, the camera stays in place, roll
credits.

DROP OUT ENDING:

7
