Tiger and Frog (Legend of Bouyei tribe)

According to legend, there is a place in the north called "the old flood and the old stream". There lived an
elderly woman without children. One day, the old man was washing clothes by the river in front of the house
and saw a thing floating upstream, a colorful bird. Covered with two wings. The old man salvaged it and saw
that it was a copper pot. Inside the pot was a child with thick eyebrows, big eyes, high nose and square lips.
He was cute. The old man took him home to raise him and gave the child a name." Ad". "De", the Miao
language is a dragon. The child fished from the river. The colorful bird went home with the old man and
made a nest on a big tree next to the house. Every day the sun screamed, everyone said It changes from the
sun, so it is called the "sun bird". Day by day, Ade has grown up to be a strong and tough young man. He
goes to work with the old man during the day. Whenever he has free time, he beats the copper pot on the
front floor of the house. The sunbird on the tree hears the copper pot. The sound flew down and jumped on
the ground, attracting groups of young men and women to gather on the front terrace of the house, and the
girl's door imitated a sunbird and jumped up.
On a certain day of the year, suddenly the sky was covered with clouds, heavy rain poured down, and floods
soared. The sunbird flew up to the branches, pecked off the fallen leaves and turned into white clouds,
floating in the air. The white clouds carried people to the northwest. The northwest was full of ice and snow,
and Ade had to follow the sunbird to fly southeast. Fly! Fly! When I flew to the south, I saw a big mountain
out of the water. Soon the flood fell, and forests, mountains, and valleys appeared, and they began to settle
down, cutting tree-frame houses and opening mountains to make fields. Five hundred men and women who
came with Adnan married each other.
After Adnan came, he set up three precepts to teach future generations: First, we should develop the
great clan; second, we should not go down the hillside; third, it is not easy to dress. Therefore, nowadays, the
Miao people live in the mountains, love the Miao clothing, respect their ancestors, and love their clan.

After Ade's death, his descendants called him "king" and built a temple for him at the foot of the West
Mountain of "Galiang". In the past, every year of the Miao and on February 2nd, the Miao people gathered in
front of the Miaowang Temple to beat bronze drums, play reeds, sing, and dance to commemorate the
"Miaowang".
