Title : Today’s Culture

Om swastyastu, Good Morning.

Honorable all the juries and all the participant of this English speech contest.

First of all. Let’s thank to God who has given us many mercies and blessing so we can join this
program without any troubles.

Secondly, I would like to introduce myself. My name is ……….. and iam representative of
class 12 software engineering in Vocational high school Triatma Jaya.

Well, ladies and gentlemen. In this occasion I would like to tell you about “Today’s Culture”.

As we know and we feel that the influence of globalization has entered almost all sectors of
life, the enormous influence of various media has changed the style and way of life of almost
all modern humans today. Fast food, gadgets, the internet and others seem to have become an
inseparable part of life as a human today. We can feel and witness various real examples in
everyday life and their real effects. With or without us realizing it, slowly the closeness and
intimacy between individual humans as social beings begins to fade along with the rapid
development of gadgets, especially in the field of information and communication which can
increasingly replace some of the roles of humans as social beings, it is not surprising that now
we are more often seeing people have more fun chatting with their gadgets than telling stories
with their friends.

Ladies and gentlemen, globalization has had a big influence on our lives today, especially in
terms of culture, we as Indonesians who really uphold eastern culture, are gradually shaken,
today's life, especially teenagers today, is arguably quite apprehensive, when the value of
politeness, manners and other noble values begin to fade, so drugs, various kinds of
delinquency and crime and free sex are no longer taboo in our culture.

How strange it is now, when we try to maintain the value of politeness we are even
underestimated, or more than maybe some are actually insulting. But this is what happens to a
culture that upholds politeness which is known as eastern culture slowly being eroded by
western culture which is full of freedom.
CLASS : XII - TIK

Well ladies and gentlemen. We, as individuals who are directly in the midst of a cultural shift
that leads to the reduction of our noble cultural values, must be firm in placing ourselves and
taking a stand, a culture that is instantaneous and tends towards “freedom”, we must respond
wisely.

Of course, globalization does not only give bad effects like some of the things that I
discussed earlier, besides all that globalization also provides so much space for us to reap
positive things and apply them in our lives. A culture that is instantaneous and full of
technology, we must be able to take advantage of.

So, ladies and gentlemen. Let us collect as much information and knowledge as possible from
the various facilities in the field of information and communication, and as much as possible
to maintain and position ourselves so as to avoid the negative effects of today's culture.

I think that all the speech I can deliver, I apologize if there are words that are not polite. Thank
you so much for your attention.

Om Santhi Santhi Santhi Om.
