Allargando- Slowing down, becoming broader and sometimes louder.

Calando- Becoming softer and slower.
Crescendo- Becoming louder, swelling.
Decrescendo- Becoming softer.
Diminuendo- Becoming softer.
En dehors- Emphasized, standing out, accented.
Forte- Loud.
Fortissimo- Very loud.
Forzando, sforzando- A sharp accent.
Mezzo- Medium, half.
Morendo- Fading away.
Pianissimo- Very soft.
Piano- Soft
Smorzando- Fading away.
Sotto voce- Softly, in a low voice.

1. Accelerando-Becoming faster.
2. Accelerant, accelerez-Becoming faster.
3. Adagietto-Somewhat faster than Adagio.
4. Adagio-A slow tempo, slower than Andante but faster than Lento.
5. Ad libitum- Freely, at will, improvised.
6. Affrettando- Hurrying, rushed, pressing on.
7. Allargando, Largando- Slowing down, becoming broader and sometimes also louder.
8. Allegretto- A moderately quick tempo, slower than Allegro but faster than Andante.
9. Allegro- A fast, lively tempo, faster than Allegretto but slower than Presto.
10. Andante- A moderately slow tempo, faster than Adagio but slower than Allegretto.
11. Andantino-Usually a tempo slightly faster than Andante but slower than Allegretto.
12. Assai, assez-Much, very. Quite, enough, fairly.

20. Grave-Flat, low pitched. Solemn, serious, slow.
21. Langsam, langsamer- Slow.

23. Larghetto- A slow tempo, not as slow as Largo.

25. Largo- Slow, solemn, sustained, a slower tempo than lento but faster than Grave.
26. Lento- A slow tempo.

29. Meno mosso- Slower.
30. Moto-Somewhat lively, not too slowly.
31. Piacere- Freely, at will, at performer’s discretion, especially with regard to tempo.
32. Piu mosso- More moved.
33. Pressando- Pressing on, hurrying, accelerating.
34. Pressez-Hurrying, quite fast.
35. Presto- Fast, faster than allegro, the fastest of the conventional tempos.
36. Prestissimo-As fast as possible.
37. Rallentando- Becoming slower.
38. Ritardando- Becoming slower.
39. Ritenuto- Immediately slower.
40. Rubato- Taking a portion of the value from one note and giving it to another note (usually)
within the same measue, without altering the duration of the measures as a whole.
41. Schnell- Fast.
42. Slentando- Slackening, slowing down.
43. Stentando- Slowing down.
44. Stringendo-Pression on, hurrying, speed up.
45. Tenuto- Held, sustained.
46. Vivace- A lively, brisk, animated.
47. Vivo- Lively, intense.
48. Zuruckhalten- To hold back, to slow down.
