Haunted House…
Radio plays paint pictures with sound. In a radio play you can
go from being on top of a mountain to the bottom of the sea
in two seconds without worrying about changing your
costume or the scenery. All you need are SOUND EFFECTS.
In this play you will need to use SOUND EFFECTS to tell
your story.
You each play a character and create SOUND EFFECTS .

Narrator: Sam, Jo and Charlie once took a trip across America that
ended with them solving a mystery in a creepy hotel. To
avoid getting into anymore trouble, this year they have
decided to stay in England. The three friends have hired a
little cottage in the middle of nowhere and are planning to
have a quiet week away. As they are driving through the hills
on the way to their cottage things start to go wrong.
CAR ENGINE SOUNDS.
Jo: Wow, it’s getting really dark really quickly.
Sam: Yeah, I think a storm’s coming. Look at those clouds.
THUNDER.
Charlie: Whoa! Scary. At least it’s not raining.

Jo: Oh. It’s open.
Charlie: That’s a bit creepy.
Sam: No it’s not. This is the countryside. People always leave their
doors unlocked. It’s safe.
Charlie: Are you going to go in then?
Sam: No.
Charlie: I thought you said it was safe.
