a.“Ignorance can lead a person to do what he/ she wants rather than what God wants”. 5m Ignorance is the state of being uninformed. This should not be confused with being unintelligent. Ignorance is not knowing or understanding the difference between right or wrong. The word ignorant is lack of knowledge about a thing in a being capable of knowing. Self ignorance can keep us from correcting our failures, keep us from fixing our blunders, and keep us from growing in God’s wisdom and grace. According to Christianity, everyone has the capacity to tell right from wrong and generally speaking ignorance is not a valid excuse – although on the cross Jesus did say ‘father forgive them for they not know what they are doing’ (Luke 23:34) In non religious teaching they say that ignorance is not merely the lack of knowledge but self-destructive. The worst feature of ignorance is self satisfaction – said by Plato. He also describes ignorance as the greatest of diseases. An ignorant person believes he knows what he can actually does not know, making him delusional. To be a true child of God living a devout and godly life, we must seek wisdom about what we do and who we are.
b. “Greed is the root of all evil”. 5m
Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction. Greed will consume and eat away at the heart, mind, conscience and soul until compromise will be made to get what is wanted. Greed is often associated with money, but can also be referred with desires of land, power, drugs, alcohol, influence and fame. Greed is foolish because we already have spiritual riches within our grasp. Greed is foolish because we can find all the spiritual treasures of God, not outside of us, but inside of us. The love of money is the root of all evil. 1 Timothy 6:10. Greed also involves using wealth to gain power over others, sometime by denying other wealth or power. Nowhere in the bible is green deemed acceptable or moral and in fact Jesus specifically states that greed is the barrier to any hope for redemption and inclusion into heaven. Jesus demand that his followers give up all earthly possessions if they were to follow him, it’s not a recommendation, but a requirement to enter heaven.
