    Volkswagen recalls Touran EcoFuel to service

    • Replacement of front gas bottles

    Wolfsburg, 31 May 2016 – Volkswagen has issued a global recall for approx.
    5,900 Touran EcoFuel vehicles from model years 2005 to 2009, of which
    approx. 3,800 are in Germany. The campaign will replace the front gas
    bottles at service centres as a precautionary measure. On some of these
    vehicles, the outer skin may possibly no longer provide the necessary
    corrosion protection due to damage caused by external influences. Fitting
    will be carried out at authorised Volkswagen service centres.

    The problem was detected during internal tests and has already been
    rectified in current production. Vehicle owners will be contacted directly by
    Volkswagen. Repairs at service centres will be free of charge and will be
    carried out as quickly as possible by arrangement.
