CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. Background
Believe or not, before I got into photography, I would see a tree full of fall
colors, drive by a beautiful hill of flower, see someone’s face with tons of
character, and honestly, I did not pay attention to those details. I remembered
when driving with my family and my mother say “Look at the amazing trees.” and
I would say “Uh huh.” and I think nothing of it. It was not until I started capturing
photos and seeing the beauty on my screen, that I began to see details, colors and
light in a whole new way.

Now, when I am eating in a restaurant and see someone sitting by the window,
and I think “Wow, look at the perfect light on their face. That would make a
perfect portrait.” I feel like a veil was lifted and I see what I was missing for all
those year before. I was just telling someone today, Photography has changed the
way I see the world.

Photography is a way of expression, it captures life in a new and intreging

light. Every time I look at a good photo, I fall in love with it. It’s more than
pressing a button it is feeling everything. It’s more than looking through a lense
its seeing the world through a camera without a camera. You see the world in a
different way when you are a photographer. Everything is more exciting, more
beautiful, everything is potential. Most people wouldn’t realize how beautiful a
broken down, burned house, but I do. That’s what we live off we make the ugly
things in the world beautiful. And it’s not only that it’s that we make things
known. I saw an add recently that said something like "what can a photograph
change? everything." and it’s so true we can reveal the true story. The animals are
dying, we show people that all the homeless aren’t just bums on the street they
have a story too and we can show it all through as people say "the press of a
button.”

1
Photography keeps me sane in a way, it lets me create the perfect world that I
never had. I think that seeing something through a camera is much safer and
beautiful than through eyes, because real life can hurt you whereas a camera can't.
Also with photos, you can edit them, which is something you can't do with real
life, you can change the bits you don't like, whereas in life we all have bits about
us, bits that are a part of us, which we hate yet can't change. So photography is
kind of a fairy-tale for me I guess, it gives me the opportunity to change things
that I have total control over, and a much clearer, beautiful view on life.

To me, photography is a way to let the world see how you view the world,
through the lens of a camera. It's a way to increase your creative eye. You can
never take an identical picture, and I would never want too. This world is filled
with things most people don't recognize and appreciate because they don't take the
time to look. Photographers take the time to observe the world and let others
appreciate it, that's why I love it and always will.

I love photography because it allows me to create art rooted in reality. It

enables us to capture moments that would otherwise just blend into all the other
moments that have passed. Instead, we can freeze time in a way and be able to
look back at it over time, seeing something new or different in it because while
the image hasn’t changed, we have. I love photography because I’m sure, my
hobby can take me to the life that I want. And that’s why, I choose “Good Future
from My Photography Hobby” as my title.

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION

A. What Is Photography?
Like most human pursuits, the meaning of photography is the meaning
each photographer brings to it. Some photography is a matter of capturing a
random moment in a person’s life.
Other times, it’s a vital record that
visually documents important details.
Other times, it can be wonderful
expressions of art. The common factors
in all of these is that light is captured by
(Taken by Khansa 29/09/2018
a recording medium, usually with a camera. ILCE-5000)

Different people have different definitions and ideas about photography.

Wikipedia has a very complex definition, but I would like to keep my definition
very simple and straight forward. Photography is the art of capturing and
processing light to form an image. A lot of you will agree with this basic
definition as it contains three important points which are:
 It is an art.
 It involves the capturing of light.
 It involves processing to form a final image.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or just getting started in your photography
career, learning new types of photography can open up a whole of professional
and creative possibilities. Exploring different photography style is a great way to
develop your skills while challenging yourself to change your point of view. You
can start with something similar like what you already know and love, or if you
are feeling adventurous try something completely different from your usual work.

Let’s look here at a few types of photography that can help you master the
skills required to become a better photographer.

3
 Street photography  Experimental photography
 Photo journalism  Travel photography
 Documentary photography  Advertising photography
 Maternity photography  Wedding photography
 New-born photography  Fashion photography
 Family photography  Sport photography
 Architectural photography  Etc.
 Still life photography

For me, Photography is a medium through which I can show people the world
through my eyes. Photography is much more than just owning a fancy DSLR and
clicking pictures. You have to work a lot in the pictures. As I like to say I don't
take pictures, I make pictures. Because I put in a lot of effort, dedication and hard
work in getting that perfect shot. Photography is an art. Through photographs you
can tell a story of a certain person, a place or an object. And the best part is if you
don't specify what the pictures depict, then the spectator will make something out
of it. It's really fun watching all these people making up their own stories through
my pictures, what they think the pictures mean and that, my friend has always
fascinated me. There is no real meaning of Photography. Photography is what you
make out of it.

B. Why Photography is such a great hobby?

People start doing photography for many reasons. It might be a major life
event coming up – new baby, wedding, special birthday – or that overseas trip
saved up for over many years. It might be that the capabilities of your phone
frustrate you enough to want to get real about photography. However it happens,
suddenly you find yourself with an empty bank account and some form of camera
gear that you now need to figure out how and where and maybe even, why to use
it. Here are reasons why I think you should make photography as your hobby.

4
 Recording events and capturing memories
Photography allows you to create images of events, times, and places. To both
record what happened and allow you to share them with friends and family, either
in digital format or more permanently with prints or photo books. By being able to
capture a special moment in time, you carry the memory of that event forward
with you, allowing you to share it and
remember it with those that were there.
Those memories become part of your
history, perhaps family lore, not just
stories passed down through the
generations – but images as well. As the
popular idiom says, “A picture is worth
(Taken by Khansa 27/11/2017
a thousand words”. Sony A57)

 Develop a personal style

There are many different types and styles of photography. Some people prefer
to label things, put them into boxes and tell you that you have to fit within their
preconceived ideas. Rubbish! One of the great joys of photography is its ability to
be adapted to every individual’s desires, needs, or preferred style. There is space
for all different approaches within photography from the classic landscape, nature,
wildlife, street, portrait, sports styles to all the different variations in between.
Whatever your passion is, you can explore it via photography in whatever creative
way you want. When starting out it pays to have an understanding of the basic
guidelines for composition, but don’t let them limit you to always stay inside
them. Challenge them, break them, and see what happens. It might work, it might
not, but either way, it will be a learning experience.

5
 It helps you notice your world
Photography makes me so much more observant and aware of the wonderful
little things that surround me each day. I notice things like light, shadows,
patterns, frames, and colors that I can
use in my pictures. More importantly, I
notice meaningful things like
connections, expressions, gestures,
feelings, and especially the small
mundane things that I want to
remember. It has even gotten me to
(Taken by khansa 24/07/2016
enjoy things that I didn’t really love before. Canon EOS 70D)

 The perfect time to learn photography is always now

Photography can be learnt at any stage and at any in point in time. There's no
limit to how much you can learn because with every photograph your skills keep
on improving. As long as you have the passion for photography, you can learn and
continue to learn photography irrespective of how old you may be!

 Profitable
Photography is a hobby that will help you make money from taking great
photographs. Have you ever wondered why there are lots of wedding
photographers nowadays? Most people are concern on preserving the most special
moments of their life by hiring the best photographers in town. It’s one of the
reasons why there are more and more aspiring photographers who are studying
about photography. In most cases, photographers receive a good amount of money
for their service. As a photographer, you’ll really enjoy the hobby as you get to
practice what you want in life while you get paid for your enjoyment as well.

C. Types of photographer I want to be

When it comes to making cash with a camera, wedding photography is often
seen as the ideal path. There’s a level of glamour and prestige associated with it

6
that doesn’t really carry over into other photography disciplines, except for
perhaps fashion photography.
I want to be a wedding photographer. Why? If
you’ve tried to hire a photographer for your own
wedding, you know how expensive it can be. In
Indonesia, to rent a famous photographer, the bare
minimum is somewhere around $1,500 to shoot
the ceremony and reception. The average is closer
to $4,000 while in-demand photographers can
charge in excess of $10,000. And of course, Most
weddings are classy and extravagant. As a
photographer, you get to enjoy the grandeur of the
weddings you shoot — maybe not as comfortably as an actual guest, but it’s still a
wonderful experience. And, depending on your client, you get to eat the food too.

Fashion photography should not be confused with glamour photography.

Fashion is all about the clothes whereas glamour is
all about the model. As such, it often involves some
kind of contractor relationship with an apparel
brand for marketing purposes. Fashion shoots can
and do produce a lot of highly evocative images.
You’re trying to evoke an emotional response out of
those who lay eyes on your photos, which will
stretch your creative mind to the limit — and that
(Taken by Khansa 12/11/2016
can be very fun. Canon EOS 70D)

I also want to be a family photographer. A family photography session

captures loved ones at a particular point in time. I love meeting these people,
bound together by blood and love, and seeing the way they communicate and
bounce off each other. Most people are truly themselves when they’re horsing
around with their families, and it feels really special to see and capture that as a
photographer.

7
The conclusion is, I want to be a photographer who have my own photography
business. In this company, I can be a wedding photographer, fashion
photographer, and also family photographer.

D. People who inspire me

Most of us have some people who’ve inspired them in one way or another,
some more than others. For me, there’s specifically a persons who have inspired
me to be a professional photographer.

Of course my father. He was always

the one with the camera capturing
important family events. He just had a
way with the camera and with people.
He was so comfortable behind the
camera. He taught me photography. It
was his hobby, I came to the conclusion
that, without a doubt, love for photography is in our genes. So, I grew up
surrounded by it and hanging out to find a unique street photo with him; it's
always been part of my life.

E. Steps to achieve my dream

Can achievement be broken down into steps? It isn’t always that clear and
easy, but those who achieve great things usually go through much of the same
process, with many of the items listed below as part of that process.

 Step 1: Dream it.

Everything begins in the heart and mind. Every great achievement began in
the mind of one person. They dared to dream, to believe that it was possible. Take
some time to allow yourself to ask “What if?” Think big. Don’t let negative
thinking discourage you. You want to be a “dreamer.” Dream of the possibilities
for yourself, your family and for others. If you had a dream that you let grow cold,

8
re-ignite the dream! Fan the flames. Life is
too short to let it go.
I dreamed of becoming a professional photographer since I was in grade four
of elementary school. It may sounds like a dream of child who doesn’t even
understand how to set the camera. But because of that dream, I dear to go to the
next stage of photography.

 Step 2: Believe it.

Yes, your dream needs to be big. It needs to be something that is seemingly
beyond your capabilities. But it also must be believable. You must be able to say
that if certain things take place, if others help, if you work hard enough, though it
is a big dream, it can still be done. And I believe that I can reach my dream.

 Step 3: Tell it.

One reason many dreams never go anywhere is because the dreamer keeps it
all to himself. It is a quiet dream that only lives inside of his mind. The one who
wants to achieve their dream must tell that dream to many people.
My dad knows that I like photography. Actually, I didn’t tell him directly.
Maybe my enthusiasm when I see a new camera who gave him the answer. That’s
really a big advantage when my father found out. Because, he helped a lot to
develop my abilities and techniques.

 Step 4: Plan it.

Every dream must take the form of a plan. The old saying that you “get what
you plan for” is so true. Your dream won’t just happen. You need to sit down, on
a regular basis, and plan out your strategy for achieving the dream. Think through
all of the details. Break the whole plan down into small, workable parts. Then set
a time frame for accomplishing each task on your “dream plan.”

9
 Step 5: Work it.
Unfortunately the successful are usually the hardest workers. While the rest of
the world is sitting on their sofas watching reruns of Korean’s drama, achievers
are working on their goal—achieving their dream.
Maybe, that I have done so far is not something that can make me instantly
become a reliable photographer. But what I have doing all this time is full of
experience. Even though it doesn’t always win in the contest that I attend, the
contest teach me a lot of thing. Starting for the right angle to take pictures, until
how much light is needed in the room.

 Step 6: Enjoy it.

When you have reached your goal and you are living your dream, be sure to
enjoy it.

CHAPTER III
CLOSING

A. Conclusion
 My purpose is to have a happy future for myself. Because, become a
photographer as a side business or as a career, working for myself can be
very liberating. Setting my own hours, making my own rules and
establishing my own dress code are a few benefits that I may enjoy as the
owner of a photography business
 I want always immortalize my life with people I love. Ever wondered why
some photographs are simply priceless? Why people splurge money to
own a piece of an ancient picture? Let me tell you, “People age,
photographs don’t.”
 Photography adds so much value to our lives, by recording special events,
people, or places, as well as helping us learn and grow as people. It allows
you to share your life and experiences in more meaningful ways via
images.
 Photography is one of the art forms our generation are living on. It’s one
of the simplest ways of creating art and capturing emotions into a frame. I
want to become a photographer because of the following reasons that
photography as a passion brings me alive.
 To become a professional photographer, someone who support himself or
herself through selling prints or photo-shoots, is remarkably difficult
because it requires expertise in both photography and marketing.
 Photographer have a great opportunity to take a fine look at the word
around them. Whether they are looking at wild reminders of the ancient
past, humbling moments in the present or hints of the future, photographer
get to capture it all and share it. Regardless of what it’s for, photographers
are in a unique position to show people what’s going on.

plenty of people out there. Although it is for reference.

be humble. I hope you guys are better than us. Enjoy every single day with
the mates, they are your last classmates that felt like home.

crazy habits. At our new school later,
stay connected through social media

honest will build a mutual trust in our
friendship. In class, we have a small group of close friends or an expanded
group of same personalities, each of our friendship brings something new
to our lives and gives us a new shoulder to lean on. We all know, a true
friend is hard to find, so when you find one, hang on tight! You might not
know this, but you helped me find happiness in being the person that I
really am. Keep our friendship less long

Those are the reason and intentions why dream are made. It took a while, but
now I have already arrange the plans. Well, my dreams will not be achieved
without the struggles as such thing as drop wise sweets, efforts with pressures,
and prays with confidence.
