CHAPTER 7

SITUATION MAPPING

7.1 PURPOSE
Efforts to reduce errors (from humans) Examples are reading errors and data
recording errors, Accessibility to computer-based systems
7.2 BASIC THEORY
The total station is a combination of EDM, Theodolite, calculator and recording
media that are put together (compacted). Total Station is a short distance measurement tool
designed for meticulous measurements using infrared light as a carrier wave that can be
directly corrected for the effects of atmospheric conditions. This tool can also display two
measurement results in one view, including a combination of horizontal angles with vertical
angles, distance with angles, etc. The main principle of distance measurement with this tool is
to get the price of the phase difference between the main signal and the data signal. The
frequency factor is a key factor in determining the accuracy of measurement results.
Total Station is a measuring tool that is widely used to carry out field activities such
as surveying geometric areas and also monitoring the movement of a land, so it is certain that
this tool is widely used in open areas with natural conditions / atmospheric conditions such as
temperature and air pressure that cannot be controlled by humans. Atmospheric conditions
such as temperature and air pressure which can reduce the propagation and absorption of
electromagnetic wave energy in a measurement (Pratomo,2004).
