Enterprise Resource Planning

Synopsis:
“Enterprise Resource Planning” is a Software solution for “Prithiv agency” Located in
Coimbatore. It is designed and developed using Visual Basic.Net as Front end Tool and MS
SQL Server as back end.

Each of those departments typically has their own computer system optimized for the
particular ways that the department does they work. But ERP combines them all together into a
single, integrated software program that runs off a single database so that the various
departments can more easily share information and communicate with each other.

ERP vanquishes the old stand alone computer systems in manufacturing, dye house and
warehouse and replaces them into a single unified software program divided into several
modules that roughly approximate the old standalone systems.
INTRODUCTION

“Enterprise Resource Planning” is a Software solution designed and developed using Visual
Basic .Net as Front end Tool and MS-SQL Server as back end.

The Proposed system is mainly concentrating in maintaining the company exportation


details and it is entitled as “Enterprise Resource Planning”. The project focuses on
manufacturing Details in the company, this encompasses Customer Order, Bill of Material,
Purchase, Finished Goods Movement, and Packing.

This system helps companies in setting up an information system for sharing information
about the employee across all interface units. It is more personalized and interactive form of
communication and synchronizes communications across both electronic as well as traditional
channels. This helps to eliminate the human errors and typical calculation can be processed
easily. This package is designed for the particular need of the company to work out the
operations effectively and efficiently.

The purpose of the system is to provide accurate results in the export operations and to
handle the data in effective manner.

OBJECTIVES

The main aim of this study is to analysis the availability of order details and
manufacturing details in the organization. This package has been developed with visual basic
and MS. SQL Server as the front and back – end tools. The main objective of this project
is to convert a manual system into computer system.

 To improve consistency and accuracy of the output


 Lessen the burden of paper work
 Aimed in easy handling of the software with better management in all areas concerned
 Report generation can be done very easily
 Reduce typographical and calculation errors
 Overcome the drawbacks of the existing system

 Customer Order
The customer order module receives the order given by the customer.

 Obtains information about the items ordered.


 Create an automatic order number .
 Maintains the details about the customers.
 Get in touch with the right people in the company through phone, fax, mails or personal
meetings
 When the order is confirmed by the head, the orders are accepted and the status is
updated. Then the order report is forwarded to the next department , Bill of Material.

 Bill of Material
The bill of material module retrieves the raw material and component
specifications for the items ordered by the customer. The Total Bill of material for an item can be
retrieved easily to produce the item.

 Purchase
The Purchase order department is given requisition to raise purchase order from
various departments. Based upon the quotations from the vendors purchase order is raised and
rate is calculated with tax. Delivery Chellan is produced by purchase department when ordered
items are received.

 Finished Goods Movement


The Finished Goods Inventory module maintains all the finished goods stock and
at last it is sent to packing department.

 Packing
Packing may be of different methods, styles and labels according to the customer.
While packing the following tax is generated as follows TIN(12%), CST(4%), Value Added
Tax(VAT), Thermocole Charges, Wooden and Packing charges, Labour Charges.

EXISTING SYSTEM
The existing system was computerized. The personal details about the customers, the
transactions made with the customer in various countries, Bill of material details, Receipt details,
Finished Goods Stock, Packing Details, each of these are maintained in a separate system.
Maintaining data becomes difficult, when the details are maintained in the form of individual
system.

 DISADVANTAGES:

 Highly Expensive.
 Storing data and retrieval becomes very difficult..
 Lack of database security.
 Access speed is less for searching and modifying data.
 The customers are not aware of the products, which the organization deals with.
 The company could not inform to all the customers about the launching of new products,
offers, change in prices.
Proposed System

The need for the proposed system arises from the limitations of the existing system,
which is a manual one. To develop user friendly software that meets the user needs any time.
Information can be created and altered by administrator. In the system the customer can access
the product catalogs of the organization
