This law gives the legal framework for establishing and managing protected

areas in the Philippines. Also, the use and enjoyment of these protected areas must be
consistent with biological diversity and sustainable development principles​. This law can
be consistent with the principles of sustainable development by ​assuring the natural
conditions necessary to protect nationally significant species or groups of species and
the like. The NIPAS law's goal is to ​conserve biodiversity​; hence it will ​exercise
strategies to preserve biodiversity​. Besides, it would ​promote the adoption and
implementation of innovative management techniques without compromising tomorrow's
future. This law ​prohibits acts that contribute to biodiversity loss​, such as ​dumping
wastes in protected areas, ​hunting, destroying, disturbing​, or mere possession of any
plants or animals without any permit. In addition to these stated acts, a​ltering, removing,
destroying, or defacing boundary marks or signs is prohibited. Also, ​conducting any
business enterprise​ without a permit, and the like.
