Define the following terms:

English Language Learners (ELL): is a valid dichotomy that distinguishes


between those who are proficient in the use of the English language and those who are
not.

English as a Second Language(ESL): Students whose primary language at


home is not standard English, therefore may not be fluent in standard English.

English Speakers of other languages(ESOL): who need to gain "access to


principles, methods, and the language of language assessment and focus on (a) regular
lessons.

English Learner (EL): Learning English in all sides, teaching vocabulary,


emphasizing cross-linguistic transfer strategies, and supporting ongoing oral
language development and improving all English skills in Reading, Writing
Speaking and Listening.

Computer assisted language learning(CALL): is when a learner uses a


computer and as a result, improves his or her language.

English language teaching(ELT): refers to activity and industry of teaching


English to non-native speakers.
