The film Pride and Prejudice (2005) directed by Joe Wright is based on the Jane Austen novel. It follows Elizabeth Bennet and her family in rural England in the late 18th century, where they encounter the wealthy Mr. Bingley and his friend, the proud Mr. Darcy. Though Elizabeth is initially prejudiced against Mr. Darcy, she comes to see his good qualities and they eventually marry. The film features beautiful cinematography that captures the landscape and tensions, though some felt the plot was rushed by leaving out scenes from the book. Overall, it is recommended for romance fans tired of typical modern love stories.

Pride and Prejudice (2005) is a romantic drama film directed by Joe Wright.
Starring Keira Knightley
as the main character - Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as her romantic interest Mr. Darcy, it is based on the novel of the same name written by Jane Austen. The action takes place during the late 18th century in rural England: the Bennet family finds out about the arrival in the town of a new gentleman – Mr. Bingley. Along with him comes Mr. Darcy – a rich, but arrogant and proud man. He is viewed poorly by almost everyone, including Elizabeth, the second daughter of the family, but little does she know that she is the subject of Mr. Darcy’s admiration. After a series of events, Elizabeth gets rid of her prejudice against Mr. Darcy, and the latter works on his arrogance, which results in them marrying each other. The first thing that caught my eye while watching the film was the magnificent cinematography: the camera angles and movements captured quite well the beauty of the rural landscape and the tensions of the plot. Keira Knightley was the perfect cast for the protagonist, and the locations were specifically chosen to match the time period. However, I think the plot was rather rushed, because many of the scenes from the book were not included. Overall, I enjoyed the film immensely, and you will like it too if you are a romance fan who is tired of the same identical love stories portrayed nowadays in cinemas.
