1 The main objective of this course is the analysis of change and motion.

where PO = Program Outcomes are as follows:
Course Objectives PO 1: the ability to apply knowledge of mathematics (from vectors and geometry of space) to practical scientific
and engineering problem
PO 2: the ability to analyze and model data, graphs, verbal or text descriptions and apply the given theorems and
formulas in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional settings
PO 3: the ability to apply derivatives and Lagrange multipliers for finding extremums, concavity, limits an ability
to do implicit differentiation, and find partial derivatives and gradient vectors
PO 4: the ability to use definite integrals for finding plane and surface areas, volumes and probability; the ability
to use line integrals in 2-d and 3-d from vector fields to find amount of work done; the ability to apply and use
curves in parametric equations, and surfaces in parametric equations, to find tangent lines and tangent planes
PO 5: the ability to use surface integrals from vector fields for finding flux (rate of volume/mass of fluid flow
across a surface per unit time) the ability to apply Green’s, Stokes’ and Divergence theorems for relations
between line, surface, double and triple integral
