Hi everyone, as we're all still spending more time at home than ever before, we thought it

was time for a Social Distancing Newsletter. Albeit, the 'news' aspect is somewhat lacking,
we'll try to make it as interesting and fun as we possibly can.

Our Amazing Resilience Sewing Team

We hope that you have all been managing to keep yourselves entertained whilst in
lockdown. I know that many of you have been involved in making Laundry Bags for NHS
staff which is fantastic. We made 55 in total, which have been distributed and have now
moved on to making fabric face masks. These are obviously not of medical standard, but
are useful for wearing when going out shopping, dropping off essential supplies or
exercising outdoors if it is crowded. We have been asked to make them by BFWI, but had
already started on them before this request came through. The masks are for anyone who
would like one, either for yourself, a family member and particularly if you know of anyone
elderly or vulnerable who would feel more confident with a mask. The masks are washable
at 60 degrees, or a simpler method is as you return home, place the mask in a heat proof
bowl, pour a kettle of hot water over it and then hang the up to drip dry.

Please just get in touch with your request, we are asking for £2 donation towards the cost
of producing the mask, but only if this is affordable to the person receiving the mask. I
would like to thank Fiona for the time and energy she has spent coordinating the mask
making, buying materials and making up kits, Jean and Donna for donating much of the
fabric and all the members who are sewing like crazy around the clock to produce the end
results.
This is a photo of 50 masks delivered to me in the last 24 hours with another 60 due in the
next day or so. 16 have already been given out, some to One Can Volunteers, to our own
members, their families and 10 to a local sheltered housing complex for their residents to
use.

Our What's App Group

The What's App group is as active as ever, keeping everyone in touch almost 24 hours a
day but not quite! You soon learn who are the early birds and who are the night owls and
those in-between. Please get in touch if you would like to be added to the group. The
regular Friday Zoom Meeting at 2pm is also proving great fun and we look forward to the
special VE Celebration one this Friday when we will all be wearing our Red, White and/or
Blue, doing a short quiz, having a fun sing a long led by Caroline and raising a glass of
something nice at 3pm with the rest of the Nation to join in the toast. Please, do join us if
you haven't before. Log in details are below, get in touch if you need assistance using
zoom.

May Monthly Meeting Wednesday 13th May at 8pm

Come and join us for some fun and games whilst we undertake a scavenger hunt looking
for items around your home. The event will last approx 1 hour and you will need to find up
to 10 items to be in with a chance of winning a Big Prize. (gasps!)

The scavenger hunt is on Wednesday 13th May at 8pm, in your own home and will last 1
hour. It will take place in the Private Group of the Wycombe Wenches Facebook Page.
You will need to send a request to join this private group if you are not yet a member, it is
part of our WW's Facebook Page.

I will go live in THIS EVENT (click the events tab in the Wycombe Wenches Private Group
to find it) at the beginning of the meeting at 8pm to share the rules and how to play, so you
won't want to be late.

Thereafter, every 5 minutes a new post thread will be shared asking for you to go find a
specific item you should all have around your home. You need to photograph it using your
smart phone or iPad and upload the picture into the comments section of the thread within
5 minutes. (This is a longer timeframe than it sounds)

After 5 minutes the thread will be closed for uploading photos. The first person on each
thread to share the correct answer photo will win a prize and in addition a random winner
will be selected from each thread to win a prize too, at the end of the Scavenger Hunt.

This will continue happen at 5 minute intervals and 2 winners will be selected from each
thread. the quickest answer and a random correct answer.

There are 10 items to find in total and there will be a random winner selected to win the
Big Prize. This winner will be randomly selected from all those who have participated
correctly in ALL 10 scavenger threads and uploaded a photo of the requested item.

Don't worry if you don't follow, I will explain again on the night.

You can use your smart phone or tablet for uploading photos. If you have not done it
before, why not practice before the event by posting a photo in the comments section of a
Wycombe Wenches post. You can post a photograph directly into the thread from your
device, look for the photo logo on the comments box, click on it and take a picture directly
onto the thread.

It is going to be fun and there will be 21 winners in 1 hour!

The running order of the evening will look like this, starting promptly at 8pm

some help.
At the end of the day it is just a bit of fun !!

Future meetings
As you can imagine, no one has any idea when we might be meeting up as a group at our
regular haunt, but we can keep in touch as best we can. We have the Book Group meeting
on Zoom this evening, the Committee have met up on Zoom too and hopefully you will
have received both the BFWI newsletter digitally this month and your WI Life Magazine
with its brilliant cover picture. i will go back to cutting out rainbow hearts for the packs I
have yet to still deliver. Until next time keep safe and well.
