Garcia, Christian Paul P.

BSECE 1-1

Good day, everyone! I am Christian Paul Garcia but you can call me Christian. I am a first year
student taking Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineer. Hopefully, after
I graduate, I would like to work as a Telecommunications Engineer for companies such as
PLDT, Smart, Globe or any telecommunications here in the country.

Let me briefly explain what telecommunications engineers do. Telecommunications engineers

are responsible for designing and overseeing the installations of telecommunication equipment
and facilities such as electronic switching systems, telephone service facilities, optical fiber
cabling, IP Networks, and microwave transmission systems. Now, engineers have a major
responsibility in managing particularly in communication. A telecommunications engineer must
be able to use different modes of communication.

Let’s imagine that I am already working as a Telecommunications engineer. I belong to a team

of people with different races and cultures. The first thing that I should remember in effectively
communicating with others is to understand the different cultural norms and standards of the
people in my environment. Otherwise, those differences may cause conflict or confusion within
my workplace. Besides that, I need to earn the trust of my team members by being open
minded and receptive that may concern about the tasks we were assigned. It is important to
build trust with your team members because it provides teamwork, cooperation, and build better
relationship. When there is no trust, no one will believe in each other’s ideas and opinions.
Sharing aspects of my personal life can help me connect and better understand them. But there
are personal conversations I need to avoid that may become disagreeable like comparing races,
religious beliefs, politics, and appearances. An effective communicator starts with being able to
listen, not speak. That is all, thank you!
