Watch and identify one of those performances on said program you watched and answer the following:

1. Did the movement of the dancers follow closely the rhythm of the music??

-One of the contestants in the dance contest that I watched is named Hyoyeon Kim, which is the
main dancer of the famous Korean Girl Group; Girls Generation and is mostly seen dancing ‘Popping
Dance’. Based in an interview, it is her first time trying ballroom but what excites her the most is because
its mostly like ballroom dancing with a twist. From what I have observed, since they are all professional
dancers, the movements of their body together with their partners follow the rhythm of the music
correctly and elegantly.

2. What was the subject matter?

- The video clip that I have watch which entitled, Dancing with the Stars, is a Korean dance
competition that is based on the British television series Strictly Come Dancing. It is all about ballroom
dancing with different themes. And since the contenders are all famous dancers of Korea, what matters
most is their ability to express the theme on each week by the means of the different ballroom dances.
They performed tango, cha-cha, jive, rumba, and paso doble.

3. Did the form give you insight into the subject?

- By hearing the main concept of the dance competition which is “Ballroom”, I already know that
it will have various difficult dances. The music also has a big part to every dance steps that they portray.

4. If so, in what ways? Discuss what is revealed.

- If you know what ballroom dancing is, you would already know of how the contestants would
dance it but only differs on how they will interpret some part of the music. For example in cha-cha,
everyone knows that it contains flirtatious movements and with much hip movement, but, the creativity of
the performers matters because the viewers already know what style of ballroom dancing they are going
to perform and they will just wait for the additional twist that the performers will give them.
