On Philadelphia street, cars pass by the Bob’s Sub Shop

in Indiana, PA. A family-owned business, the Bob’s Sub is

a place that one can go to and enjoy a sandwich for any

occasion. Some eat a sub for lunch, some eat a sub for

dinner, and some individuals use the late-night window to

purchase a sandwich for the long, drunk walk home.

Like many other businesses in Indiana, PA, the Bob’s

Sub shop has felt the effects of the global pandemic

caused by the COVID-19 virus. I was able to sit down with

owner Jimmy Nagle to gain some more insights on how

Bob’s Sub is feeling the effects of Covid-19.

But subs are not the only thing that Jimmy said is

being hurt by the COVID pandemic.

Like many other stores in Indiana, Bob’s Sub thrives off of

the patronage of college students from the Indiana

University of Pennsylvania. At the start of the Fall

Semester, Indiana University of Pennsylvania announced

that fewer students would be allowed to come back to

campus. Also, classes have become online so most

students have opted to stay away from Indiana. Jimmy

says that Bob’s Sub is feeling the effects of a diminished

student population.

To keep customers coming, Jimmy stated that there were

many safety precautions that the Bob’s Sub has taken to

keep its customers safe.

Even though hard times have hit many in the area, Jimmy

says he is still optimistic about the future of the Bob’s Sub

in Indiana.
