Tristen: Hello folks, and welcome to the Big Hit!

My name is Tristen Borland and I actually do

not have an interview this week, but I do have the one and only Jake Taylor on with me to talk
about the NFL.

Jake:

Tristen: Jake we are over halfway through the NFL season. Week 8 was both amazing and
awful in its own unique ways. At this point I think it's appropriate to start talking about the end of
the season awards.

Jake:

Tristen: So, I am going to go through the awards list and Jake, I want you to give me your pick
for the award and why. Ready?

Jake:

Tristen: So first is the most obvious award, the season MVP. Jake if the NFL season ended
today, who would get league MVP?

Jake:

Tristen: I would pick Russell Wilson. Through 8 weeks of football Wilson has 2,151 passing
yards, 26 TDs, and 6 interceptions. This is nothing new to me, because Wilson is a dominant
athlete year in and year out. It’s even more impressive now that Wilson does not really have a
run game to lean on and his defense really is not there. The other two players I would argue for
MVP are Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rogers.

Tristen: Jake the next award is Coach of the year. This award is given to the coach who was
able to do the best with what he is given to work with. Jake in your mind who is winning Coach
of the Year in the NFL?

Jake:

Tristen: In my mind, I like what Sean McDermott has been able to do with the Buffalo Bills
roster. He puts Josh Allen in a place to succeed, builds his team around the players that
impress, and is ready to put the Bills mafia at the top of the AFC East. Honorable mentions
include Mike Vrable and Mike Tomlin.

Tristen: Next, Offensive Player of the Year! Jake who is offensive player of the year?

Jake:
Tristen: My vote goes to Davante Adams. The Packers receiver has 43 receptions on the year
with 502 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns. When this guy is on the field, it's a safe
assumption that angry Aaron Rogers is throwing the ball to him. Honorable mentions include
Tyreek Hill and Steffon Diggs.

Tristen: Flipping the field, Jake who is your Defensive player of the year?

Jake:

Tristen: When it comes to my players, I am voting for the pinata master, Miles Garrett. Leading
the league with sacks and anchoring a relatively scarry Browns defense. My honorable
mentions include Xaviar Howard and Blake Martinez.

Tristen: Jake who is your Rookie of the year? I think I already know who it is but I want you to
say it.

Jake:

Tristen: With that being said I will try to spice it up by voting for some other rookies. I would say
Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb, who has 40 receptions, 524 yards, and 2 TDs. I doubt that
with Ben Dinucci his numbers are going to get much better, but I did not want to copy you. I
would also say Denver’s receiver Jerry Jeudy, who has Drew Lock proving himself week in and
week out.

Tristen: Also, who is your Defensive rookie of the year?

Jake:

Tristen: I figured you would say that, but I have a player that blows me away whenever I see
him. Patrick Queen, the Raven’s rookie LB is a lights out enforcer over the middle of the field.
He is fast, powerful, and smart. I know it is early in his career but I can not wait to see him get
better and better. My honorable mentions are Arizona’s Isaiah Simmons and Detroit’s Jeff
Okudah.

Tristen: Jake, this is just another award that has really two players in the running, so I am
excited to hear your pick.

Jake:

Tristen: The player I would pick is Big Ben Roethlisberger. This guy tore roughly three of his
flexor tendons in his right elbow and had to undergo the common baseball surgery called the
Tommy John surgery. Not many people thought that Big Ben would come back, but here we
are. Ben has thrown over 1600 passing yards, 15 TDs, and 4 INTs so I think that if the season
was over today Ben Roethlisberger would win the Comeback Player of the year award.
Honorary mention is the only other player I can think of that could win this award, and that is
Alex Smith. His leg was snapped like a stick, and then lost most of his leg tissue to necrotic
bacteria. Instead of throwing his hands up and saying I am done, he persevered and now is
playing once again in the national football league.

Tristen: Jake the last award that we are going to go over is the NFL.com Fantasy Player of the
year. This player award is given to the player with the most Fantasy points so far this season.
So really there is only one player that can win this award. Jake who is it?

Jake:

Tristen: Folks that is all the time we have today for NFL Awards Week 8 edition. My name is
Tristen Borland joined by the fiery Jake Taylor, and we both hope to see you again here on the
Big Hit.
