Protocol ( II )

Management of Dyslipidemia in Diabetic Patients

1- Age ( 40-75 years )


• Moderate intensity statin
• High intensity statin if:
A. Long duration of DM ( >20 years for T1, >10 years for T2 )
B. Albuminurea > 30
C. eGFR < 60
D. ABI < 0.9
E. Retinopathy or Neuropathy

• Add ezetimibe if:


• ASCVD risk estimation more or equal 20% despite maximally tolerated statin

2- Age ( 20-39 years )


• Consider moderate intensity statin if:
• Other CVD Risk Factors ( Obesity, Smoking, HTN, LDL > 100, Family history of
premature CVD death )

3- Age ( 20-75 years ), LDL > or equal 190


• High intensity statin

4- All ages and established ASCVD


• High intensity statin
• Targets: LDL < 70, Non HDL < 100
• If this targets not achieved within 3 months, Add Ezetimibe >>> if not achieved
within 3 months after ezetimibe, Add PCK9I
