THEORY:
 Charts/ graphs with the prediction (Time phrase: future time _ 2020 )

a. Introduction: (2 main duties)

- Introduce the chart/ graph

 The (type of chart/graph) compares and contrasts the data on the changes
in the number/ amount/ percentage of smt (title of the chart/ graph) from
T1 (past time) and gives the projection/ prediction till T2 (future time).

 The (type of chart/graph) demonstrates/ compares/ gives information on +

the number/ amount/ percentage of smt (title of chart/ graph) in the first ….
years (past time) and shows/ gives the prediction/ forecast till/ until + T2
(future time).

- Give the overall feature of the chart/graph

It is clearly seen from the chart/ graph that + smt had/ witnessed an/a +
upward/downward + trend in the first …. years/ from T1 to T2 (past time)
and the projection/ prediction/ forecast is that + the figure for smt will +
Vbare/ is predicted (/projected/ estimated/ expected) + to-V in the year of T3
(Future time).

b. Body: (this part is divided into 2 paragraphs)

- Body 1: Period 1 (past time: T1  2020: Past simple  Present perfect)

- Body 2: Period 2 (future time: future tense: will + V-bare/ S + be

predicted/ projected/ estimated/ expected/ supposed to-V)

The line graph compares and contrasts the data on the changes in the
proportions of people living in the towns and cities of 4 different countries from
1970 and gives the projection till over a sixty-one-year period (1970-2030). It is
clearly seen from the graph that urban population had the same upward trends in
all given nations in the first 40 years and the projection is that these upward
trends will continue to happen till 2030.the given period of time.

Clearly, from 1970 to 2030, the rates of American people who lived in
urban areas were much more than Korean people. In detail, the former increased
markedly from 60% to around 90% in 1990 and then it will continue to rise
slightly to over 90% in 2030 , while the latter rose significantly from 40% to
nearly 90% in 2010 and this figure will remain stable at 90% until 2030.
Looking into the details, from 1970 to 1990, the percentages of people living in
India and China had the same trends. Both urban populations went up minimally
from 20% to upper 20%. However, between 1990 and 2030, there were
contrasting trends in the rates of people who lived in the town and cities of India
and China. To specify, the former decreased slightly from upper 20% to 20% in
2010 and it will rise moderately to nearly 40% in 2030. In contrast, the latter
increased markedly from 20% to about 40% in 2010 and it will remain stable at
40% in 2030.

+ Period 1: From 1970 to 2010
+ Period 2: Since 2010  2030
 Since 2010, the urban populations of US and South Korea have remained
unchanged with the same figures of …., and then the percentages of city
dwellers in two mentioned nations will continue the similar constant
trends. On the other hand,….
