BULK CHEMICAL DECANTING PROCEDURE

1. Area should be clean and clear of objects that could cause potential harm. Door to
chemical room should be open and over-head bay door should be open slightly to
increase ventilation during decanting. Inform S/R and anyone in the area that you will be
decanting prior to starting. DO NOT DECANT if forklift is in use in the immediate area
or if people are smoking just outside man door/bay door area.

2. Open cabinet doors and remove bulk chemical/pump and any containers needed. Bulk
container should be grounded immediately upon leaving cabinet.

3. Close cabinet doors.

4. Open bulk container top and insert (clean) pump, screwing tight once fitted. Open
container to be filled, (a temporary container may be used to transfer some types of
chemicals to the bench), fill container via hand-pump. Close all lids immediately after
filling containers.

5. Once all containers have been filled, remove pump from bulk chemical and replace bulk
container lid immediately. If necessary, clean up any spills, drips and wipe clean pump.
Open chemical cabinet doors, remove ground from container and place inside cabinet.
Place pump on top of bulk container and close/secure doors.

6. Upon leaving chemical room, turn lights off, close door and close bay door. Notify S/R
that decanting is finished and leave area with all necessary chemical containers. (Note:
If strong odor is present, leave chemical room door ajar to ventilate)
