To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Angela LaRose, and I am applying for the part-time membership assistant
position with Theatre for Young Audiences USA. I found information on this position through
the Playbill job listings page, and when I came upon it, I knew immediately that I wanted to
apply. In May, I graduated from DeSales University with my B.A. in musical theatre and did not
exactly enter into the “real world” that I thought I would. Throughout this pandemic at home, I
have taken time to reflect on passions of mine aside from the performance aspect of the
performing arts industry, and how I can find ways for my newfound passions and my love for
theatre to coexist. I believe that this position with Theatre for Young Audiences USA does just
that, which is why the prospect of involvement with this organization excites me so. I have
always loved working with children and young adults, helping others, and finding new and
creative ways to share the arts with those who may not readily have access to them. I have also
found that I truly enjoy detail-oriented and organizational work in the marketing and social
media realms.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are extremely important to me as a creative in a
community that is so largely served by the talent of underrepresented BIPOC individuals, and I
strive to stand with these individuals in their journey towards gaining the recognition, support,
and voice they so rightly deserve from this industry. Because the contributions they bring to the
artistic community are so prevalent and evident, I think it is very important to bring the arts into
underprivileged and underserved youth communities and pave the way for their involvement in
the arts. Bringing the arts into a community is one task, however, ensuring that the community is
met with an artist/group of artists that can create a safe space for young people is another crucial
step in the process. I want to ensure that children in these communities are seeing artists,
teachers, and arts administrators that look like them and help bring these communities and
individuals together in harmony.

Thank you very much for your time and your consideration. Stay well.

Angela LaRose
