Short story

At last the day we’ve all have been waiting had arrived. Summer break is the last summer my friends
and I will be complete before some go their own ways and separate. When we had known Mae and
Deniele are moving away we immediately planned the best summer knowing this was our last summer
complete. We went all out and booked to stay at a resort by the beach as well as activities made to
enjoy our time there. Our source of transportation was by car, we all were in the same vehicle but the
place was a few hours away from where we were. Although the road trip was exciting as it is, this was
only the beginning. Everyone settled in their rooms as soon as we arrived and passed out in bed. A
couple of days passed by and in those days we had explored the area, went swimming, took long walks
on the beach and even watched performances by the beach. Knowing we had 2 more days to spend
here we all decided to go out to night markets enjoying some streetfoods and maybe buying souvenirs
to bring back home. Walking through the beautifully lit night market we saw a crowd of people
gathering around a small booth. The owner of that booth was a frail old woman talking about her
experiences she had with paranormal activity. Giana and I were really interested in what she was talking
about as the others tried backing out but had no choice but to come along. She had displayed a brunette
haired doll which did not look as terrifying as she described it to be. It looked like any normal doll but
she had pointed out not to fall for it as we can never really tell its intentions. She had mentioned that it
likes interacting by drawing random things. The rest of us didn’t take it seriously and decided to leave
and joke about it. Once we got near our resort we decided to play a game of tag by the beach it was
getting late and you could only hear calm peaceful waves. As we got more immersed in the game the
more we let out our laughs and running away from each other as our feet get covered by the sand until
we hear a child crying. Everyone stopped and gathered together trying to pinpoint where the sound was
coming from. We had noticed Deniele was nowhere to be found Mae and Jennell start panicking
remembering the story they heard from the lady. I had told them they were overthinking it as he
must’ve been tired and walked back to the beach house alone. We all came to a conclusion that we
should walk back to the house but as we were walking we hear the same child like cry and spot yellow
shoes meant for a child as we get closer the cry turns into a scream which made us bolt and run as fast
as we could back to the house. As we made it to the house panting, in the porch there was a drawing of
a flower and a “hello” beside it as if it was drawn by a child. Before we could turn around to run again,
there he was. Deniele frightened us as we were all shaking in fear. We all decided to playfully hit him
and all sat down in the sand facing the ocean to calm down. We then talked about our future and how
life will be separating from eachother. After that scare we all became emotional and reassured
eachother we all will meet again for sure in the future. We watched the sun rise making sure we all
spent our last day here with no regrets and to enjoy our last remaining day. This was the story of how
our crazy best summer went.
