1.

Identify and describe the target population that will be covered in your working
hypothesis/research proposal.

The target population of the researchers are 3 year Medical Technology students who
rd

are currently enrolled at Angeles University Foundation for the academic year 2020 - 2021.
They are chosen regardless of their sex and age, and must took the clinical chemistry and
histopatholgy. Also currently undertaking virtual laboratory sessions for both Hematology and
Immunology & Serology courses. And, they are selected in view of the advantages in
knowledge and expertise of the researchers about the course.

Also, in order to identify the self-confidence and satisfaction of the MT 3 students

towards their future clinical exposure such as the internship, also an addition to the teaching
methods performed in the virtual laboratory and simulations.

2.  Describe the sampling design applicable to your working hypothesis/research

proposal.
Based on the target population of the researchers, the sampling design to be used is
cluster sampling. This design particularly divides the population into groups or subpopulations
which is called the cluster. For our research proposal the clusters are already defined as the
different sections under the 3rd year MT students. The population has an equal chance of being
selected for data gathering. The sampling individual may not be calculated and thus the whole
subgroup may be selected for the sampling.  However, the researchers tend to use individual
sampling by calculating the number of needed samples from each group in which they are
selected via simple random sampling. This design is applicable since the researchers are
dealing with a large population. In addition, the target population of the researchers shares
common characteristics such as the year level, program, those who are undertaking virtual
laboratory classes in Hematology and Immunology & Serology, and those who took Clinical
Chemistry and Histopathology. Also students that are currently enrolled at Angeles University
Foundation in the academic year 2020 - 2021. Since they share common characteristics, it is
justifiable to draw sample from the population as a representative. In addition, a total population
sampling would be scientifically rigorous and since the administration of the data gathering will
be held online, it would be difficult for the researchers to control and facilitate the observation for
the data gathering due to the fact that some respondents may be difficult to reach than the
others such as in cases of limited data for internet connection, and thus it may produce a
possible inbuilt bias.
3.  Identify the sample size applicable to your working hypothesis/research proposal.

Since the target population of the researchers are 3 rd year Medical Technology
students of AUF with a total population of 252, Raosoft recommended a sample size of
153 students to be the respondents.

4.
For this study, the target population of the researchers are the 3rd year Medical
Technology students at Angeles University Foundation who already “took” the clinical
chemistry and histopathology course, and are currently undertaking virtual laboratory
classes in Hematology and Immunology & Serology. The basis for the identification of
the sample size is through the use of Raosoft wherein it computes the recommended
sample size which is 153 that will represent the whole population. This means 153 or
more measurements/surveys are needed to have a confidence level of 95 %that the
real value is within +/- 5% of the measured value. As compared to our model journal it
uses the G* Power Version 3.1.9.2 software in calculating for their recommended
sample size.
