Beam is a structural member which resist the loads when applied laterally to

the beams axis.

Bending moment for continuous beam is Wl^2/12
Bending moment for simply supported beams is Wl2^/8.
 Extra reinforcement in beams provided to resist the hogging moment
(negative moment).
 Hogging is happy face sagging is sad face for example.
 Lap length is 50D D is the dia of bars.
 Top extra bar is L/3 from the center of the column, bottom reinforcement is
L/4 or 0.076XL from the face of the column.
 Lapping should be done with in the L/4 zone on both sides of beam from
column face. Lapping should not be done at center of the beam and
column-beam junction.
 Top extra bars will resist the negative bending moment bottom will resist
the positive bending moment.
 Extra bars should resist the 50% of the actual moment developed in the
beams section.
 Ld is 20D D is Diameter of the bar.
 Hogging is negative and sagging is positive.

 By using the HYSD BARS have ribs we can increase the Bond strength at least by 40%.

 Hook length for 90. Bend is 8D
